It’s a capelet!

This won’t do much to keep the cold away on its own, but it sure is cute!

However, if you’d like to make your own, it’s a great one-day project. The basic shape is an oval with a circle cut in the middle for the neck hole. Just make sure that you place the opening on one of the short sides so the longer sides can drape over your arms. Then add a collar and lining if you’d like and finish off with a closure of your choice. If you need a step-by-step guide, you can use one of the many circle cape tutorials on YouTube. The steps are all the same and they’re great if you need help figuring out measurements (especially for the neck hole). Just make sure you’re cutting out an oval instead of a circle for the outer shape.

Just a little announcement:

I’m currently trying to clear out at least half of my stash before I end my self-imposed shopping ban so I opened an Etsy shop to sell the projects I don’t plan to keep for myself. Upcycling project this time! Turned a damaged vintage kimono into a summer coat. What was left of the kimono was in amazing condition so I kept things simple, just evening out the hem and closing any open seams.

Beautiful shade of pink, and I think it can look like something right out of a fairytale if styled right.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t think I’d wear it enough to justify keeping it for myself 😩 On that note, this pretty little number is looking for a new home.

Lost track of how much tulle went into this one, but it was a monstrous pile on the couch when I was cutting it into pieces (particularly for the ruffles at the bottom of each layer).

Overall, a bit of a nightmare to construct, but I love how it turned out.
