What she means: I've been explicitly and implicitly taught since birth to value the feelings of others over my own feelings and to conceal all negative emotion so as to avoid making anyone else uncomfortable and be a "good girl" so maybe that means that you now have to put in a little extra effort to make me feel safe enough to express myself honestly and maybe that's annoying but imagine how it feels for me

Reminder: If you’re trying to be compassionate and actually want to see someone grow, learn to challenge their behavior and not their personhood. We fuck up. I fuck up. You fuck up. We all do/say things, and act in ways that we shouldn’t. Sometimes a lot of things play out the way they do because of past trauma, internalized shit, and a plethora of other reasons. Hold the person accountable with love. Challenge what they did and the impact of that. Everyone fucks up, but that doesn’t mean they’re a shitty person.
