This is the Zentraedi sourcebook (1987), the third book in the Robotech RPG series. It’s another skinny one. As the introduction states, “We take a closer look at their lives, tactics, weapons, mecha and space cruisers.” The focus is clearly on the tech and not on their weird hair. Or the fact that they are 60 feet tall? Though the villains of the first phase of the cartoon, it is later revealed that they are a clone slave race developed by the Robotech Masters. I think.
What I do know is that I like the Zentraedi mecha — little pods on two legs, sort of like an AT-ST from Star Wars. I really can’t wrap my head around them being 60 feet tall. Was that in Macross? I really don’t remember that!
I’m warming up to Peter Simon’s art. I really like the views of the Zentraedi mecha cockpits, that’s a nice touch — consoles like that are often overlooked.
