The shock was– unexpected. At least until Korra finally realized why and who it is she had forgotten. She was genuinely surprised that she did, though, since it’s been so long, maybe she really wasn’t. Regardless, she did indeed feel bad, seeing the other react to it in such a way. Nicole may have been acting cool about it, but maybe she really was sad that one of her friends had forgotten her.

Korra would definitely have to make it up to her somehow.

“How you’ve been, Nicole? It’s been quite a while, huh? Sorry about that.”

At the call of her name, the woman turned around to meet another with the same striking blue eyes and long brown hair. It was up– just like her own– though her outfit was a bit different from hers. Now that she recognized her, especially after that tight hug that only Aoi could give, she laughed and returned the same amount of force. If any more muscle was flexed between the two, something would burst, though Korra didn’t want to think about what.

“Aoi, it’s been so long! How’s Republic City been treating you? Hopefully your first few weeks were better than mine were.”

That bright orange hair… Why does it feel like it’s familiar somehow? If not because of how much it stood out, it might have also been from the fact that she had only met so many people with it. Sadly, the back of someone’s head wasn’t enough to summon any names, so she decided to call out to them instead.
