You're a magical knight who serves the collection of angels known as Heaven's Manor, fighting against the Kingdom of Fear. There is anger in your heart, but there might also be love. There is fear under your skin, but there might also be courage.
Sorry about that, I didn’t mean to make you worry! Even if you’re not ready or available to come back yet, that’s okay! I just hope life has been okay for you 💕
OH no, you don't need to apologize! I always appreciate the love, and it means a lot that people care about Heaven's Dog even after it's been so long since I've updated it ;//////; I'm just feeling a lot of emotions aaaaaaah

Rosewood obviously loves Halloween, and Abaddon tends to be mostly in agreement with them about that.
Emi loves loves loves Christmas and winter holidays in general.
Iriel doesn’t really have a favorite holiday, but they do tend to become “active” around Valentine’s day. I don’t know how to describe it, but they’re a little more affectionate around the second week of February, even if they don’t seem to notice it.
Lapis doesn’t get a favorite holiday because du Mirage doesn’t believe in them :)))
Lapis having abs is kind of a chock since you described them as like,,, lithe??
You can have abs and also be lithe?
Lapis has a low body fat percentage because of constant dieting & being fairly active (even if du Mirage were to let them do as they’d like, they’d get up to a lot of parkour-like activity) so they don’t need to be heavier in order to have abs -- the muscles are more visible earlier on.
In the same vein, Iriel is physically stronger than Lapis, but you can’t see the muscles on them as clearly because they have a higher body fat percentage.
dunno if this has been asked before but what kind of body types does everyone have??
Trigger warning for diet talk! Especially Lapis's. Umm, breaking it down more logically, I'd say. . . . Iri is the chunkiest -- they have a decent amount of both muscle and fat. They're pretty active, and they eat a lot. Rosewood does not have muscles. There is a line in Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incidence where the main character is trying to get on a moving train and Mr. Colfer describes him as never having lifted anything heavier than a cell phone, and that's pretty much Rosewood's activity level. They aren't fat exactly, but they do not have tone. Abaddon is tiny on all counts. They're thin and wiry to go along with their shortness, and even though they will eat constantly if you let them, they do not gain weight. This is weird spirit shit. Abaddon is always starving because no one believes in them, so their body reflects that sense of being "underfed" even if they actually eat a lot of physical food. They're probably the least comfortable with their body because of this (though like I've mentioned before, Iri is also uncomfortable with their body -- it is not a coincidence that both of the spirit characters have a hard time with the material forms they're taking on for the people they love .___.;; ) Emi is pretty toned in the sense that their work-out regime is very regular and also consists of more light reps rather than less heavy ones. They used to have a personal trainer, but depression hit them pretty hard. . . so they've lost some of their muscle and some weight. They're probably the most regular about exercise in general. Like Iri and Abaddon, they tend to eat a lot, but they're a bit pickier about the culinary experience since that's their passion. Lapis is very svelte. ._____.;;; du Mirage has them on a very strict diet, so after the series ends their body type would probably change the most, but during the story they are a little ballerina-ish. They have the most food anxiety, since that food is being used as a means to control them, and it probably takes them a while to recover after everything is over. That said, though, whatever feels most natural for the character is probably what you should go with!
Do you have a playlist or songs that remind you of the LIs?
It’s been a while since music was last discussed, but here’s a few songs I like for them. . .
I really need to do some playlists for each character separately and update things, but I have a spotify playlist for the project in general over here.
Please don’t judge me too harshly on my taste in music ;///;
They didn’t originally, but I decided to give them some just now haha~ I already gave them extra piercings a bit ago . . . I really like the punk look paired with someone more shy or reserved haha
I’m thinking at least one rabbit tattoo, something like this or this, and then something with wings, though I’m not sure if I’m gonna go with the big back tattoos of wings or something over the wrists and extending over the backs of the hands. . . I’ll have to do some more inspiration research heheh
Could you describe the character’s facial features in detail? I’m tempted to make fan art
Hmm. . I can do my best, but before I do I wanna say that when I started this project, I was heavily influenced by how much creative freedom people had in the fandoms for Samurai of Hyuga, Wayhaven Chronicles and Fallen Hero and the like -- so I really do want people to feel like they have a certain amount of free reign in terms of character design.
So when it comes to the visuals for each of the characters, I have some “key elements” and touchstones that I come back to, but in terms of specific details (like narrow eyes or broad noses or the like) I don’t really have anything pinned down.
But this is what I’m working based off of!
Iriel Lovelace: Iri is supposed to be kind of bulky -- they take up waaaay more space than they used to as a rabbit, and this shows in their height (they are the second tallest -- only Emi is taller than them!) and also in their body posture -- they tend to hunch over and try to minimize themselves physically. They give off a kind of “I used to be a delinquent but now I’m reformed” vibe in their dress -- lots of casual clothing paired with comfier pieces like sweaters and the like, and they wear too many layers for the circumstances. They’ve got rose gold hair and used to have silvery gray eyes but I might change them to pink for the Rabbit Vibes; extra piercings on their ears, possible facial piercings, and they always seem really sad. With all that in mind, I imagine broader facial features would suit them, as well as wider set eyes -- things that make them seem more like “prey” than like “predator”.
Aconite Rosewood: They’re meant to feel kind of like a fish out of water, and this shows in how they dress like they’re making themselves into performance art. They give off a very Innocent Demeanor, so rounder facial features in general fit them, but they also have a very hard-to-pin-down aura. My major themes for them, design wise, are a very on/off aesthetic (they’re either Vintage Magician or Grundgy Occult Graphic Tees) and their body language tends to be very awkward and anxious. They gangle, but not as much as Emi. Dyed pink hair (it’s naturally dark brown, so they bleach it like crazy too) and brown eyes that sometimes seem red in the right light. They wear a necklace with a jeweled ring on it at all times.
Emi Nymbostratus: They’re tallest and they gangle the most. They’ve got more angular features, probably, and they tan really fast, so combined with the fact that they used to bleach their hair, they give off very beachy/surfer vibes. They’ve stopped bleaching their hair since becoming an Agent of Heaven, so their roots are growing out, and they favor a lot of blue clothing. Kind of posh vibes -- Emilio, as mentioned, has an undercut, while Emilia favors more demure partial up-dos.
Abaddon is a shrimp and is to be treated accordingly. I think heavier features would be a nice contrast with their build and coloring -- they’re tiny, favor incredibly frilly clothing (masc!Abaddon still wears a lot of piratey blouses) and have long silver hair with red eyes. Perpetual angry face. Touchstones for them are just the juxtaposition of their constant grouchiness with the ridiculously frilly styles.
Lapis rocks quarantine fashion, let’s be honest. Back in school, they dressed very poshly because that’s what du Mirage wanted, but they’re more of a free spirit, so if they have the opportunity to go around in boxer shorts and a too big t-shirt, they will, and they tend to really like things that bare their midriff especially around the mc which has nothing to do with them being proud of their abs. They have dark hair and reeeeeaaaaally dark lashes, and their skin is tawny -- they’re whole vibe is supposed to bring to mind lost treasures, so gold and blue crystals and obsidian and onyx all suit them.
Gonna be thinking about Iriel today – namely the kinds of tattoos Iri definitely has (and also like …the implications of Iri being the MC’s number one source of safety and comfort when Iri is like, built and has a lot of piercings and tattoos, and doesn’t like talking to people who aren’t the MC + Rosewood + Flint, and then taking that up a notch for MCs who like cutesy styles lololol you can definitely get a “cute tiny pastel baby + tall bruiser who looks like they can and will break your bones if you mess with them” vibe /tangent) and also thinking of giving them face piercings? I’ve already given them extra earrings.
But is there anything anyone would like to know about Iri specifically?
(Sidenote: I just realized that I broke the pinterest board link, so I’ll fix that up sometime soon.)

What do you imagine the characters' ethnicities are? And welcome back!
This one is gonna be a little vague because half the cast is . . .not human?? So they don’t necessarily have human ethnicities, but I’ll do my best!
I uh. Accidentally spoiled things here though whoops!
Right off the bat, though, Nymbostratus is mixed latino/white. I’m not sure what kind of latino they are? I don’t think they’re going to be Mexican, though now that I’m thinking about it I do generally go towards Mexican traits when I’m thinking about them, so they might be Mexican! Since they’re a book two character I haven’t really finalized them. Technically, it would probably be mixed Mexican/Italian. . . their biological father is an Italian mobster *sweats*, but their mom and stepdad were/are both Mexican. That means that Harper is also mixed Mexican/Italian, even though “Reed” is not an Italian surname.
(Sidenote: The romance between Nymbostratus’s parents is loosely hung on the very famous Lancelot/Gwenivere/Arthur love triangle and I’m very excited about that. Which I think makes Harper a Mordred analogue . . . . ??)
Rosewood is a little confusing, so bare with me -- over time, they’ve turned out to be Chinese ethnically? This is not currently reflected in the demo, but we’ll see how it plays out over time. They were given up for adoption and taken in by a white family in a small Southern Town, so culturally they relate more to your Being White + Racism + Queerphobia, yay, and they feel very estranged from the Chinese part of their culture. They might also be mixed white, but they’re visually very much East Asian. I’m not actually 100% sure if they know they’re Chinese or if that’s just their “best guess”. They were definitely very white at the beginning of the project, but . . . that changed.
The Agent of Heaven is obviously whatever you the player decide the Agent of Heaven is.
Abaddon is roughly Greekish. They’re an offshoot of an offshoot of Apollo, if that makes sense? So you could consider Apollo to be like their past reincarnation + grandpa in one + older brother. They aren’t culturally anything, and have spent time all over the world, but they look Greek and they kind of come back to Greek culture when they’re stressed out.
Lapis’s people simultaneously “predate” known history, and grew up alongside ancient Sumerian cultures, in the same area. It’s sort of like an entire genre, but basically Lapis’s people existed alongside the Uruk that appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh, but was wiped out from history later I guess; appearance wise, they’d appear Iranian the most. Culture-wise, I mean. . . . Sumerian. . . .?
If you’re wondering about their name, it’s because du Mirage is a francophile and renamed them with a rough translation of their previous name (Lapis Lazuli of House Obsidian being the English version). Phantome du Mirage herself is literally the ghost of a cave woman, so I guess maybe a neanderthal. . . ???
And then finally, for Iriel, I’ve struggled the most with them, but as I’m writing this it has become pretty obvious that they’d appear to belong to a similar background as the MC, and I’ll flavor the text going forward appropriately -- they were a rabbit, and when they took on a human form they’d probably take on a form that made the MC most comfortable, so that’s definitely a thing. They did have a previous experience with someone during the middle ages that will be gotten into, and for that they were a lot more grounded in roman/celtic sorts of cultural touchstones I think? But that would probably be easiest viewed as a previous incarnation of sorts or a past life, rather than their current life.
Ooh I like the desert motif and the Ozymandias parallels. They work especially well with how destructive anger can be in general and how self-destructive mc's particular brand of anger seems to be. The desolation themes suits them well, I think.
And it's gonna be a fun space to play in with a particularly "stormy" mc I've been toying with in my head for a while now. I imagine the rain she's been running from is gonna catch up to her soon no matter how much she'd rather it didn't, after all.
Thank you~~~ I’m also thinking in addition to some Lucifer motifs, the Velveteen Rabbit is a very good touchstone for Iriel’s character and character arc up until the beginning of the story. . . so that’ll be fun to play around with~~
(This is relevant to me because whenever the MC references things like Ozymandias or the Sword of Damocles or the cliffs Zeus use to throw himself off of in order to forget how in love with Hera he was, it’s coming from Iriel. Iriel is obsessed with that kind of stuff, but doesn’t let themselves actually engage with it.)
Heheheh I’m curious how it will play out~~ Stormy MCs are always my favorites to read about!
This assumes that Lapis (re)introduces themselves after a battle, which I’m pretty set on, but might experiment with later.
“We did it!”
Rosewood’s triumphant cry was enough to pull you back to awareness; you’d lost it again, you supposed, but it didn’t feel as urgent as it normally did, or maybe you weren’t done being angry.
Shattered crystals were scattered around you like dark glass or black ice, the power that had possessed them sifting away into the air like smoke, and you took a step forward, crushing one of the panes under your heel.
Your breath came heavy to your own ears, but Rosewood didn’t seem to notice as they launched themselves at you, still merged with Abaddon, and wrapped you in a hug.
>> You barely noticed, feet planted firmly in the gravel and dust, the Ozymandias of the abandoned schoolyard. When you didn’t respond, Rosewood reluctantly let go.
>> You almost toppled over, arms pinwheeling as you tried to regain your balance, and shoved Rosewood off roughly.
“Sorry,” they didn’t sound sorry as they backed up, but you supposed they had stopped touching you, so they probably meant it on some level; the exuberance of victory still seemed to have them in it’s grip, “You were amazing.”
“Was I?” you asked, dimly; you didn’t look at Rosewood; you stared at the dissipating crystal you could see over their shoulder.
“You always are.”
Your breath caught; Rosewood didn’t miss the gesture — their eyes flicked up from your throat to your eyes, but you didn’t look back at them, not really, as you turned your head, slowly, towards one of the trees.
You’d had lunch with them under that tree, and somehow, seeing them there now, perched on the branches in the Kingdom of Fear’s uniform and colors: the dark green and purples of the new leaves under the setting sun slowly gave way to the black fabric, form fitting and high collared, and the dusky brown of Lapis’s fingers gripping the wood.
Their mask almost seemed to glow, the white painted a strange orange pink, and your heart suddenly seemed like it was pounding so hard it might burst.
>> Each beat was the beat of a war drum.
>> You didn’t know with what — anger, love, betrayal? — you only knew that it hurt, and you didn’t like pain.
>> For a moment, you were ten years younger and you had never known them to be unkind.
Rosewood moved in front of you almost instinctively — a funny prospect, like they might protect you from Lapis — and you felt movement from Iriel’s corner of the battle field. That felt weird, and wrong somehow — you shoved back the image of Iriel in their battle armor, trying not to think about where that lead — and forced yourself past Rosewood, reaching up to shove them aside when they didn’t immediately move.
“[Name]—” they started, but you weren’t listening.
“Lapis.”
You said their name like a weight; the feather of truth on one side of the scale; you said their name like a prayer that could rewind time, or like the sword of Damocles hanging over their head.
They stood on the branch with the same effortless grace they’d always moved with; their head turned and their shoulders twisted as though they didn’t need to think about the placements of the branches they were weaving around.
Their steps were so light that the tree itself didn’t shake, as though they weren’t quite real, as they approached the edge of it.
You braced yourself; the sword in your grip seemed to sing.
“I’m not here to fight,” they said; they sounded almost cheerful, as though the last ten years hadn’t happened, and there was a shadow behind them that you didn’t recognize at first as their hair — a long braid that was wound down their back, trailing behind them like a devil’s tail.
You didn’t like it.
They’d never had long hair before, and your fingers twitched around your sword, as though preparing to cut it.
“What do you want?” Rosewood broke in; you might have — if Lapis didn’t have so much of your attention right then — you might have waved them off, but instead your eyes followed Lapis as they reached the very edge of the branch, so far out that it seemed impossible they could stand there, much less do so without the branch bending under their weight.
“To make an offer,” they said from behind the mask, and then they reached up, and your heart leapt in your throat as they pulled it off.
It was the same face you had known all those years ago; they hadn’t changed nearly as much as you’d have expected them to — heart shaped, high cheekbones, broad nose. Tawny skin dusted with freckles and dark lashes framing eyes the color of the summer sky or a polished river stone. You’d memorized them before, you’d thought, but now the memory seemed imperfect, intangible.
Now you could imagine what the warmth of their cheek against your palm could feel like again, and you weren’t sure where that memory was coming from.
You turned your blade; light glanced off the edges like it was dancing, like it was alive, like whatever destruction it wielded had a different master than your own heart.
“We don’t want anything from —” Rosewood started, but you found your own voice breaking in.
“You might have started with an apology,” you said.
Something flickered over Lapis’s face. Rosewood shifted beside you — they had taken a step forward, so that the two of you stood shoulder to shoulder, and in the back of your mind you wanted to berate them for cutting into your mobility.
Your voice had been soft, but it had cast a spell of silence over everyone — even the tree seemed not to want to rustle, as though you’d commanded life to simply stop, like a murderer.
Everyone here would know about murder now, wouldn’t they?
“Apologize for what?” Lapis said, lightly, and it was like a movie skipping at a key part, as though you hadn’t been privy to a line that would explain something, or a meaningful cut.
Your throat closed up; whatever had driven you to speak was gone.
Your sword wasn’t.
You shoved Rosewood aside — they let out a gasp, as though they hadn’t expected that, and the back of your head, where some part of you cared about Rosewood, marveled that you’d still caught them by surprise — and dove forward, sword singing out to cut through the place Lapis had left behind already, spinning out of reach. You fancied that maybe you cut the edges of their braid, where it had already been tied off, and then they were out of reach.
I’m reworking some of the motifs/background imagery I was planning on using for the Agent of Heaven’s anger problems. The imagery I was using before (torrents of rain) wasn’t linking to anger in my mind the way I wanted it too, so I’ve shuffled it around to being more deserty -- the water becomes a motif when the Agent starts dealing with what’s underneath the anger, but when they’re just angry it’s like . . .dusty windstorms are the imagery I wanna work with.
And then I looked up the poem Ozymandias for reasons, and I miiiiight start working in some Ozymandias references for the Agent of Heaven as well; I already link them to Molosser dogs in my head (which plays off the title, and is kind of the concept the title is referencing lol) so . . . we’ll see where this imagery goes.
It already plays a bit interestingly with Abaddon, Rosewood and Iriel, who all have some rabbit imagery associated with them -- Abaddon being the rabbit Rosewood figuratively pulls out of their hat and Iriel being an actual rabbit.
