So, for reasons that I won't be getting into, I sold my Limited Edition Jasmine doll and put the funds toward this "grail." I do prefer the Disneyland Anniversary version in the blue dress, but she's more expensive. Not complaining at all.
Let's give a warm "Benvenuto" to my final Barbie Looks/Basics doll, Francesca. She is named for the main character in The Bridges of Madison County.

This dress is from the Millennium Wedding doll, which has an older body type ("Shani?") However, it seems to magically look good on every Barbie, including Made-to-Move Standard and Petite (as modeled by Lyla here). This piece of clothing is also of a very high quality!
I settled on Dorothea for our blonde...now look at what we have here!

When purchasing tickets for the new Barbie exhibit at MAD Museum, I stumbled upon this magnificent atrocity. Granted- it is not my cup of tea. But, there's clearly a market for this sort of thing, and the environmentalist in me loves that it's an upcycling of old Barbie dolls.
Good Smile Company Is Dangerous
Meet Ram. She's my long-anticipated Nendoroid Doll treat for myself. The amount of expressive poses that she can strike is pretty amazing. And, the magnetized stand is a game-changer...gets the job done with no clunky metal appendages. This is truly "maid to order!" (Oh I should be ashamed of myself.)
I also purchased some faceplates from Chibi Chop Shop, and- no joke- I don't know why more doll and figure makers are not using this gimmick. It is so easy to swap out the visages, and you can even change the eye color with this system (her "angry" faceplate has big blue eyes).
I actually don't know much of anything about Ram or her anime, but I chose her because I liked her look, and the price was acceptable. Hence the title of this post; it's probably a good thing that most Nendoroids are fairly expensive, because if they weren't...we might have a hoarding problem on our hands...
It's unfair that my doll can be this cool without even trying!
