                 he looks at her with somewhat of wonder in his eyes, because when did the daughter of the doctor join them ? he can’t exactly remember, all he knows is that she is here, standing in front of him with the same air around her like her dad has. the air like the belongs anywhere, the air like she CARES. hector is well aware that caring in this world is nothing but a fake promise ( but when are promises ever real ? )                                                                    “ well well, look who joined us ! little mccoy ! ”

 Jim just huffed as he walked down the hallway, ignoring the busted lip he got from the Governor taking a swing at him. He turned however to give a playful wink towards the officer and went right back to fixing his disheveled hair and licking the red off his bottom lip.

 “Meh. He tried to sell me a girl as an offering of friendship. What else was I suppose to do? I draw the line at slaves.” Jim said simply, like he hadn’t just ruined what could’ve been a great assist for the Federation.

 “Doesn’t matter. At least nobody got seriously injured.” Jim muttered. “I know the Admiral will have my ass if I try to do anything further…I got no choice but to continue onwards. As much as I want to go back there and help those people…I think I’ve done enough.”

 “Your men did a great job however. Give them my thanks yeah?” The young Captain turned on his heals to pat the others shoulder. “Honestly you should’ve been there.”

                  it has become a normality to see their captain sporting minor injuries of all sorts. they range from busted lips to black eyes to raging bruises. but they are hardly his problem, let the medical team take care of those, all he cares about is if the security team is safe. it always is a blow when they lose one of their men ( they are understaffed as it is ) not that he blames the captain for their deaths. god knows the dangers of space.                   “ i’m glad you didn’t accept, we can hardly use another mouth on this ship. ” especially not some sort of slave who has never seen the inside of a spaceship. it would be another four men lost due to constant surveillance. “ isn’t it in the prime directive not to interfere ? ” hector raises an eyebrow at the young captain, reckless he is indeed. the compliment to his men is noted and accepted with a dull nod of his head, they did great indeed, they shall know it in the morning when they are glad to be alive.                  “ maybe i will, if only to keep you in check. ” there is no apology for his rudeness, no sweet words spoken to ease the pain of the blow he had just offered. sweettalking has never been his best trait, and never would it be.

                         you should NEVER underestimate the power of a security officer,  especially if that security officer has been working on the enterprise for years. space is truly a dangerous place for all who wander too far beyond their borders. but hector has become a star in pushing the limits ( breaking rules as he goes. )  he actually likes captain kirk, favors him over the many brain dead captains the feder- ation has to offer. favors his recklessness and gift to attract danger over the false sense of security many others tend to give their crew. keeping people safe is somewhat his job after all.                                                  “ so captain, i see yet another diplomatic mission                                                    ended with two of my men having to step in ? ”
