anxiety will have you thinking things like "will everyone hate me if i order coffee at the coffee shop" and "will people think i'm crazy if i work out at the gym"
THE X-FILES â 06x20
many on here need to be learning this lesson
I wish depression were an emergency. I wish someone could take one look at how sick I am and go âoh my god, we need to get you to a hospital!â and then when we get there I get rushed into surgery and the surgeons say âitâs a good thing you brought her here when you did, this is a seriously advanced caseâ and then they put me under and spend the next ten hours pulling metres of long, sticky black strands of gunk out of my body, throwing it immediately into an incinerator so that it canât infect anyone else. And then they could stitch me back up and I could rest a few days, and when I leave the hospital everyone can see how much better I am and they congratulate me saying âwell done, youâve been so brave, Iâm so glad youâre ok. I love you.â
The Batman Recap:
Oh, I see you didn't enjoy "Bring Her Back"! I see you called it lunatic torture porn. Great. Now, out of curiosity, what do you think all the (your words) disturbing, sickening, suffocating, but ultimately "meaningless" child abuse in this film might be trying to say about the exploitation of children by adults and systems of power? Do we think there's a reason why this film becomes increasingly difficult to watch as children suffer from increasingly demented abuse and mutilation? Do we think the film might be trying to make a point about the vulnerability and oppression of children as a class, especially within the foster care system, by forcing its audience into the position of total helplessness and nihilism that children are forced to occupy? Do we think the "fetishistic/perverse blindness" of the young main character might serve to emphasize the theme of vulnerability? Do we think that the themes of grief might actually serve to emphasize the themes of children's oppression and exploitation, considering that a young girl's corpse is violated and mutilated in the hopes that it will eventually be "better" for her? Do we think maybe you've identified this as grief horror when it is actually perhaps not? Do we think that filmmakers who make horror movies might want to employ horrifying tactics to examine horrifying subjects? Do we think, perhaps, that the reason this "not even scary" horror movie made you flee the theatre in repulsion is because it is, in fact, doing what it was meant to do, and, in fact, you just don't actually like horror movies? Do we think that, just maybe, the reason this "purposeless" movie is making you all feel SO bad is that it actually did have a purpose, which it accomplished, but which you are too blinded by your sense of puritanical morality to recognize? Let's go through these questions together. We can sit back to back in two separate chairs -- you don't have to look at me.
[ID: Two tweets by blue @âbluewmist that read:
the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much. you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

there is actually a large radfem population who get mad if you imply womenâs fashion throughout history wasnât specifically designed to torture and maim women. like, not just corsets. if a fashion historian talks about the functionality of removable pockets and underskirts, theyâll get really angry. idk why, truly. women throughout history were doing jobs and living lives, they needed clothes that could be functional. even if the upper crust was competing to see who could strangle their waist, everybody else had to have clothes comfortable enough to move in. and the widespread corset maiming is a myth too.
whatever whatever the âdopamine addictionâ industry is lying to you the point of life is to have as broad a range of pleasures as you can. the problem with dependency is not that itâs evil to be dependent on something, itâs that it can be unhealthy to rely completely on a singular source of happiness/pleasure/escape. this does not make the desire to escape inherently evil or some kind of inherent weakness. you are not addicted to dopamine you have a habit of relying on one thing for all your needs and that is a habit you can change slowly over time without complete âabstinenceâ so to speak. and comparing any of this to a substance addiction is unhelpful + unhealthy + will get your local addict (me) to kick you in the shins very hard
âUgh this prominent women in the Lesbian movement turned out to be a bisexualâ âugh this famous lesbian transitioned into a manâ âugh this queer romance writer turns out to be aceâ âugh this cis feminist author ended up being nonbinaryâ âugh this writer on masculinity transitioned into a womanâ
Oh no! We might have to recognize liberation as an interconnected intersectional struggle! Ahhh!!! >.<
yeah yeah weâve all destroyed and betrayed ourselves for nothing around here youâre not special
fuuuuck i just realized that the future idealized version of myself cant exist without current me being the catalyst for change and doing hard things. has anybody heard about this
actually loving drawing this kind of stuff rn
fantastic mr fox says something about fatherhood thatâs batshit insane and I donât think the movie actually knows itâs saying it. it just takes you by the shoulders and makes you look square in its eyes and goes âsome men should never have been fathers. they are. and they love their children deeply. and they try so very hard. but that doesnât mean they should have been fathers.â and then just gets up and leaves you with that like youâre meant to be okay afterward
can something good and pleasant happen to me now please
I hope severance fandom knows characters arenât the mouthpieces of god in universe. As in Dan Erickson wasnât speaking through Irving when he said Helly was never cruel. This was true for a very specific set of circumstances which applied to Irving at the moment(and the innies).Harmony isnât the prophetess some of you think she is either. Her perception of Helena is deeply influenced by her personal suffering at the hand of Eagans.Just because she told iMark Helena will never care about him because sheâs an Eagan doesnât make it true. Her saying thereâs no honeymoon ending for Mark and Helly doesnât mean itâs Ben Stiller speaking through her.Characters say and do things in the story sometimes so later they can be proven wrong further down the line. What I mean is if you donât like a particular character or relationship donât use what a character said about said character or relationship as word of god to justify your perception.Characters arenât affirming your dislike for a character or confirming the endgame for your favourite ship. You are reaching that conclusion by yourself.
