     A dramatic sigh left the redhead as she threw herself into one of the nearby armchairs, legs draped over one of the arms, head resting on the other which Emeli turned to gaze at Helena. “I know we’re supposed to be locked up and everything, but I seriously miss shopping” she began to pout. It was such a frivolous thing to miss, really, but Emeli had practically been raised by Selina Kyle and Barbara Kean; it was inevitable that she would grow to have a similar love for clothes and fashion, even if she did try to deny it at times. “We should do a closet swap or something”

“Oh you really know how to kick a girl while she’s down.” Helena said dramatically matching Emeli’s tone. “I would kill for a good hour or two of shoe shopping, honestly. Kind of rude of them to not let us out of here or online shop at the very least.” she rolled her eyes. “Closet swap? So you can not return my good sweater again?” she teased. “Don’t think I forgot.”

Wylder felt safe talking to Helena, more comfortable than he felt with most people. He appreciated that she was always there to listen and offer support, even after their breakup. Despite the awkwardness of discussing his mother’s engagement, he felt like he could trust Helena with his concerns and fears. He knew it wasn’t appropriate to talk to his ex-girlfriend about it, but he couldn’t help himself. “I just want her to be happy. I’ve gotten over being the child of a one night stand ages ago.” he said, avoiding Helena’s gaze. “I don’t think he’s right for her.” He let out a sigh, running her hand. “But I guess it’s really not my place huh? That’s what everyone keeps telling me.”

“Well then Kitten, what exactly are your reservations with your mom’s new beau then?” She asked seriously. There was something that didn’t sit right with Wylder, she could see it on his face, watching the battle between hating this guy but wanting his mother happy. “It’s your family, at the end of the day.” she shrugged. “I feel like you should have a say especially if you have serious reservations and good reason to back it up.” she shrugged.

“Thanks.” he gave her a small half smile, meeting her eyes for a moment. As usual he was met with that look that always seemed to go right through him, without revealing anything that was on the other side of it. With one last look around, he went inside. Wylder sat on the edge of the sofa, his leg bouncing a hundred miles a minute. Maybe more. “They engaged. ENGAGED. He’s going to be my…stepfather.” Wylder’s fist tightened. “All he does is ruin things…and I want her to be happy. She gave up so much for me….she deserves it.” 

Helena stretched out on the sofa, after all it was her dorm room, making herself comfortable. She intended to take up more space than she needed to if he was going to be so rigid and sit at the very edge of the couch. “Engaged huh - hope its a pretty decent sized rock.” she mused. “I know you want her to be happy but why don’t you tell her about your reservations about him? Because obviously you see something she can’t - unless you’re hoping she gets back together with your dad...” Helena gave him a tight smile. “You also deserve to be happy and I know how much your mom means to you kitten.”

Mar’i let out a small huff, that spark of need to prove herself igniting. “I can be wild!” she exclaimed again, just barely resisting the urge to stomp her foot. “I can prove it. Let me prove it.” she said to her cousin, the need for acceptance blocking out the fact that this might very well be a very very bad idea. 

“Well for one we’re back so it’s not likely that you’ll skip class.” she looked up seeing if her cousin would take the bait. Lena liked to start small with her corruption, see if her little cousin really did want to walk on the wild side. Her talents would be helpful in breaking into that museum Lena had been eyeing.

Wylder sighed as Helena basically echoed back the same thing that Marcella had at him. Why did girls have to be so complicated. “No I don’t-” he stopped realizing the sentence might be a lie. “It’s not cause of that. But it’s easier for me if you guys at least were civil with each other. But I get it. It’s not my place to make it easier for me.” he shrugged. At least he could say he tried. He looked away from Helena as she brought up his mom. She was one of the few people that knew how bad the blood between them ran when it came to that particular part of their relationship. He looked around before meeting her gaze. He hadn’t really gotten to talk about it with anyone. Warren had been so busy, things with Bruce were complicated, and he didn’t want to burden Marcella. It was too much history to catch up on. “Yeah actually…is that okay?” he wanted to ask her.

“No, it’s not.” Lena agreed. “Though I will do you the courtesy of being civil and minding my own business.” she conceded. She wasn’t going to be best friends with Wylder’s current girlfriend, the thought of the other girl made her sick to her stomach but she wasn’t going to let that emotion show across her face. Instead she smiled never letting that mask slip. Lena watched him look a way for a moment. She knew him better than he would like to think. “By all means.” she said stepping aside to let him enter.

Vittoria gave a huff. “Isn’t it, though?” she said. “What do they think we’re gonna do, see the error of our ways because a glorified hall monitor meets with us for half an hour every day? That’s honestly making me more inclined to do crime. Just out of spite.” Although she did a lot of things out of spite to begin with. She snorted. “Oh, yeah?” she said. “I didn’t think Peeps were your type.”

“I think they’re hoping some good will rub off on us.” she shrugged bored with the conversation of their sponsors. Helena didn’t enjoy them but she did enjoy chatting with people, pressing buttons and what not. “Not cute in that way.” Lena rolled her eyes. “cute like a kitten or something.”

“I don’t have any sensitive spots. Have you ever thought maybe you’re just annoying?” Bruce countered. “At least someone does.” The young man finished, standing up so he was towering over her now. Cocking his head and looking her over as she asked what his problem was today. Of course she knew about the whole Valentina and Daphne situation. Helena was always a drama hound. Sniffing it out the best she could and potentially spilling it to other people. It was why he couldn’t let himself get bothered enough for her to find out what was really going on with him. “Nah, I’m good at juggling. It has nothing to do with the girls, because there’s nothing up with me.”

“Me? Annoying? Impossible.” She scoffed waving his ridiculous suggestion off as if that couldn’t be it. She was a goddamn delight. “Ahhh but you’re still juggling both of them? How fuckboi of you Bruce Drake.” she let out a soft chuckle inspecting her sharp nails. “So you’re just cranky for no reason? I highly doubt that...I smell a liar.” She sniffed the air in dramatics. She couldn’t exactly take her frustrations out on her roommate she was trying to be good for Wylder’s sake but it was making her press everyone else’s buttons around her. “Maybe they’ve caught on to your antics - I saw them the other day by the bleachers...together.” she prodded some more watching his jaw for a clench or to see his eyes dart somewhere other then back at her.

“Lenaaa…” he drug out her name, a slight warning tone to it. It was too thin a line that he was walking on. At her response he rolled his eyes. “I just want things civil. If you really meant it when you said we could be friends, you are going to have to find a way to get in Marcella’s good graces. At least a little bit Helena.” he said to her, leaning into the door way a little more. “I’m just trying to make everyone happy here. My home…things have been a wreck at home. I can’t have everything in my life falling apart…”

Lena pursed her lips, the warning tone in his voice when he said her name like that was hot. It meant she touched a nerve. “My advice kitten, don’t interfere. We don’t want to be friends, we want to ignore each other. I like it better when I pretend she doesn’t exist.” she smiled. “Why do you want us to be friends anyway? You’re not hoping for a threesome are you? Because keeping dreaming.” she shook her head softening her expression at his admission about home. “Your mom and John?” she frowned. “Wanna come in and talk about it? No tricks...I’ll sit on the opposite side of the couch.”

“Alright well…the offer is there should you want it.” Mar'i tugged on her hair a little harder. She and Helena hadn’t been close, her father not wanting Mar'i to have been succumbed to bad habits. Still, it was her cousin, and she loved her family. She wanted to make amends, while she certainly hadn’t mistreated her cousin, she also had kept her distance. Mar'i’s eyebrows furrowed at the assumption. “I can be wild.” she said defensively. “I once freed all the animals from the zoo with Damian.” she stated matter of factly.

“So sweet little cuz.” Lena feigned a soft tone. She wouldn’t accept the offer, she was used to doing everything on her own exactly like her mother. She could take care of herself. Lena laughed at Mar’i’s words. “that’s really cute, I remember hearing about that - but not the sort of wild I was talking about.”

A soft snort fell from Vittoria’s lips as Helena spoke. “Yeah, I bet you can,” she said. She shrugged. “I know I’ll have to deal with them eventually, but if I can just piss them off a little, what’s the harm? Besides, when I finally show up, they’ll probably be so relieved we can just skate through the meeting.” She wrinkled her nose. “Oh, jeez, the ultimate goody two shoes, huh? Poor you. I bet just looking at him gives you a toothache.”

“I’m more of a get it over and done with, you have to be around them for the whole semester.” Lena sighed rolling her eyes dramatically. “It’s just such a waste of time. I could be napping.” she frowned. “He’s cute though.” she shrugged. “In a doe eye’d baby kind of way.”

Vittoria shrugged and smirked. “I know they’ll find me, but at least I can have some fun first,” she said. “Maybe I can make them cry. At least a couple tears out of frustration, you know?” She traced an imaginary tear track down her cheek. “Who’s your sponsor?” she said. “Honestly, I forget mine’s name. I think it’s a girl? Jessica? Juney? I don’t know, I really didn’t pay much attention to the form.”

“I can get behind a little cat and mouse.” It was her favourite type of game after all. Far be it for her to care what Vittoria did with her sponsor, it was her own grave she was digging. Lena learned from experience it was better to just sit and push on through the boring student therapy sessions than evade them. “Jordan Kent - Superman’s kid. Little tough evades someone who can likely see through walls.” she shrugged.

“Not as of late. But you know we’ll always have memories.” he said trying to tread carefully. “I want to see how things are going. And to ask you to play nice. Marcella’s really great and I think you two would actually get along if you would stop hating one another.” he said to her. It was a long shot but if he could convince anyone first, it be Helena.  He leaned in the door way, one hand reaching up to hold onto the frame. To ground himself to that spot. One look over her had him praying to any god that would listen to give him strength. “I think it’s better if I stay on this side of the door for now.” he said to her.

“Pants on fire - but I won’t tell.” she continued to tap her nails along the doorframe. “You want to make sure we’re not at each other’s throats? Don’t worry kitten we just ignore each other for the most part - I prefer it that way, don’t think I’d enjoy swapping dick stories with your new girly.” she tried to keep the bite out of her words, she had promised to be good. “Suit yourself.”

“From what I remember gagging wasn’t a problem you normally had.” Wylder spoke before his brain could think better of the words. Thank gods Marcella wasn’t here. He winced at his own stupidity. “Sorry…I don’t know why I said that.” he shook his head. “I know, she has class. I came to see you actually. If that’s’ alright?” he asked her. Last they talked they claimed to try to be more civil with one another. But Helena had slept since them, who knew if that still laid true. He stood outside, not daring to be alone behind closed doors with her. Just the implication would have Marce castrating him.

She sunk her teeth into her cheek so she didn’t react to his words. They threw her for a loop but Lena was good at tucking emotions away and composing herself quickly. “Something you think about often speedy?” she asked watching the array of emotions change as quick as he was across his face. “Bold of you to stop by the dorm to see me while your girlfriend is in class. What do you want Wylie?” she asked taping her nails against the doorframe before stepping aside and motioning to come in. She watched him stand still. “Or if you’d rather stand outside here if you don’t trust yourself.” she pushed buttons, it was what she was good at.

“We should really agree on no visitors at the dorm - mostly because I’ll actually gag if I see you two together where I have to live for the next few months.” Lena rolled her eyes dramatically Wylder standing at the front door while she blocked the entrance way. “Your girlfriend isn’t here.” @petalsinmoonlight​

“It’s a bit skewed. I met a few students with clean records but their parents were villains. I think that’s why Lian won’t join. She refuses to pay for her mother’s sins, as she says.”  Mar’i said moving shifting from her heels to her toes and back again. “Maybe I can’t get you out the program but…I could maybe get some of the rules loosened? A later curfew?” she offered out. “I just…I want to help.” she said with a small smile. “I did enjoy our friendship. You were fun!”

“Well life isn’t fair.” she shrugged, she knew first hand what that was like. Unfortunately for Bruce, Lena took after Selena with her lax morals. It was probably mortifying that she had ended up in the criminal program for shit her mother used to pull. It was just fun, she wasn’t actually going to hurt anyone and she wasn’t on some high and mighty mission like Bruce was. “She’d be bored here anyway.” Lena said inspecting her almond shaped nails. “I don’t need your help kitten, I do just fine on my own.” Depending on people wasn’t what was going to get your through life. “I know kitten, I am fun, but you’re not a walk on the wild side kind of gal.”

Bruce shot her a frown when she asked him that, raising his eyebrows at her with disbelief. “Have I taken the necessary precautions?” He repeated to her. “Me. The strategy guy. Do you hear yourself when you talk?”  Something nagged at him that this might not be about the simulation training they were about to go into together and his dark eyes shot down to the ground to avoid her eye contact. He hadn’t spoken with any of his family since Valentina murdered that man in front of him. His stomach squeezed with anxiety.

Instead of getting snippy at his tone with her Helena looked at him a slow predatory smile spreading across her lips. “My my my, I think I hit a sensitive spot.” she said her attention now focused on Bruce instead of the simulation training. This was definitely much more interesting and fun. Lena loved getting a rise out of someone and sinking her claws in. “I love to hear myself talk, I love the sound of my own voice.” she flipped her hair back. “What’s got your boxers in a twist today? Don’t tell me it’s girl problems, as the strategy guy I thought you’d be great at juggling two of them.”

Mar'i let out a nervous chuckle. She wasn’t used to people not liking her or being upset with her. It felt like bugs crawling onto her skin. She absent mindedly rubbed up and down her arm. She winced at Helena’s tone. not that it wasn’t deserved. “I’m sorry. If there’s anything I can do to help you out, let me know? I’m in alot of leadership positions here and the headmistress loves-"she stopped realizing how unlikely that was. "okay the dean tolerates me more than most.” she shrugged.

“No thanks Princess. I’m good on my own as I usually am.” Mar’i’s offer was sweet but Helena wanted her to squirm a little more. She wondered what Wylder had said about her to make them all drop her or perhaps it was the simple fact that she was just connected to them because of Wylder, they weren’t friends outside of their relationship. “Besides my rap sheet is minor compared to some people in this program. Apparently mischief is now a crime.”
