Where did the word “cis” even come from?

It’s like one day we just considered all these people non-transgender, and then we come up with this weird-ass fucking word to insult people who are not transgender. Now, I can’t go through a single day without seeing it.

it’s even been around since antiquity. cis is the opposite of trans in the way that anti is the opposite of pro, or infra/ultra, etc.

fats that aren’t “trans fats” have only “cis” (same side) bonds between carbon atoms, whereas trans fats have some “trans” (opposite side) bonds. this usage is decades if not centuries old.

it is not a made up word
