I’m so back with the new photo mode feature, it’s a dream
For your Red Dead Redemption 2 shots, what Reshade shaders do you most depend on and even use?
And is there any you would recommend to a fellow virtual photographers to make their shots as cinematic looking as yours?
By the way you really captured John Marston amazing in your shots! (huge john fan here) You're really talented at this!
thank you!
I don’t use Reshade at all, I’m more comfortable with editing my shots in Lightroom post game
for the games where there are no light sources in the photo mode, I rely heavily on custom masks in Lightroom but they come with a subscription to creative cloud, unfortunately
my RDR2 shots are basically raw screenshots taken with Otis_Inf camera tool and then edited in Lightroom. usually I use vignette / brightness settings and/or light curve to work with the background (I like it dark) and then again custom masks for bringing out the subject and the details. e.g. to make a certain area lighter/brighter
overall, I just work with light and colors when I’m editing the images, I fix the white balance, make the background darker and the subject brighter either with a custom mask or a light curve, depends on looks better
I don’t know if I could answer your question, I’m not a professional by any means and some things I do on a whim, so it’s hard to explain how exactly I do it
I have a question regarding your virtual photography.
Do you do photography professionally in real life? Because your shots are gold and you really seem to know what you're doing.
And are you self taught in virtual photography (and photography if you do that as a job)?
thanks a lot for the kind words!
I’m not a photographer in real life, no. this is just a fun hobby
I didn’t learn specifically how to do VP, once upon a time I discovered a photo mode in Cyberpunk and started experimenting with zero knowledge in photography. the only thing I really learned is how to use Otis_Inf camera tool and Adobe Lightroom later
been doing stuff in different games for over 2 years now, and it’s still mostly intuitive
How do you achieve the effect with the subject lit up while also having the background be dark :)?
nothing too fancy. I use vignette and low brightness settings for the dark background and either the custom light source (if the in-game photo mode has one which is rare) or the mask feature in Lightroom
I select the area that I want to be lighter and change the exposure/brightness settings or work with the light curve in this area
