Things I have learned about grief
It is possible to cry so hard your legs give up. It is possible to be so sad you cannot stand.
It is possible to cry until you physically cannot breathe. It is possible to be so overcome with sadness that the only thing to stop you from crying forever is your physical body needing a breath.
These feelings can come at any time. It is possible to suddenly become overcome with grief at the dentists office when they have tools in your mouth and suddenly you cannot stop crying no matter how hard you try.
You never feel okay again. You just learn to live with the not okay-ness. You aren't just sad, you're angry, you're jealous, you feel guilt, and any other range of emotions that are all expressions of grief. This is your forever journey now.
But most importantly, you never stop loving that person. All of these horrible signs of grief, they are the price we pay for having felt love. For where there is no love there is no grief. And where there is terrible grief, there was a terrible love. And love is forever.
