New Erasmus+ Project Empowers Youth and NGOs to Protect Privacy in the Digital Era.
The rapid expansion of digital platforms has created new opportunities for youth engagement—but also new threats to personal data and privacy.
In response, a new Erasmus+ Small-scale Partnership project titled "Privacy Protection Education for the Youth Sector (PROTECT)" has officially launched in September 2025, bringing together organizations from Cyprus 🇨🇾, Greece 🇬🇷, France 🇫🇷, and Serbia 🇷🇸 to strengthen data protection awareness and compliance across the European youth sector.
📍 PROTECT project addresses urgent gaps in GDPR education among youth NGOs and young people involved in Erasmus+ activities. Despite the existence of privacy laws, many youth organizations and project participants remain unaware of how their personal information is collected, stored, and shared.
“Young people deserve to know how to protect their digital identity, especially when participating in mobility projects, exchanges, or using online platforms. This project gives them the tools to do just that—safely, confidently, and in compliance with EU law.”
Over the next 12 months, the consortium will:
Develop a practical GDPR Toolkit for youth organizations and NGOs
Deliver training sessions for youth workers on privacy rights and data management
Conduct local workshops for young people to improve their digital safety awareness
Produce free multilingual resources in Greek, French, Serbian, and English
Map and engage with stakeholders across 4 communities
