Jay Adams was not just a skateboarder, he was a leader in the influence amongst the change of pop culture and skateboarding forever. Jay Adams was apart of a group of skateboarders called the Z-Boys, he was officially known as “The Original Seed” he made headway in 1975 when he went to a competition that would leave people thinking. His new wave of skating was influenced by the waves and surfers he grew up watching. When that new way of skating came to be known on the streets it quickly spread ocean wide amongst the skating community. Jay Adams would be known as the kid who genuinely changed skating, and moved like a wave as waves are ever changing, so was he. The Z-Boys made headway, but Adams was the face of it all. He was sponsored by 9 different companies. He left two children, and a legacy that will forever spin in the wheels of skaters around the world and in America. He was a legend, and despite conviction of dugs, and so on, it wasn’t that which was focused on through out his career by his fans. He went through a lot, but at the end of the day he took it out on the board, or on the wave. Jay Adams pictured here was a young man making his unforgettable trace that not even he knew would change his life forever. If you haven’t seen Lords of Dogtown, you definitely should! Emile Hirsch plays the young Jay Adams, and that of the Z-Boys and their adventures and tribes and tribulations. It just goes to show you, that no matter how much shit your in, no matter how much you think your life truly “sucks” just remember to follow your heart and it will get you out of the rut. Believe in yourself no matter who you are and who you want to be, and go for it, because you never know. Legends never die! Rest In Peace Jay Adams! I hope there are skateboards in heaven and clouds that become ramps for you to ride forever.
