There was a child at her feet. In truth perhaps it was not really a “child” but that was how she saw it. The girl lay sprawled on the ground in front of her, as if one had slid into a base in one of those sports of this world. She had not been there a time before either, it was a sudden event, now blocking the path forward Nemesis had been following.
She could have moved around the idiot before her. Or stepped over her. Yet that was something for rational minds. Instead, the dictator simply stared at her. Stared with her harsh, cold, piercing glare. Annoyance clear it’s focus.
She said nothing. Not a word was spoken. She just continued to stare. And she would continue to do so until the girl below her regained her senses and prostrated herself begging for forgiveness.
@hellishwrath
for a starter
“The look in your eyes is something to be intrigued. Tell me, who are you and why do you find yourself standing before me?”
“I am someone who’s time is too valuable to waste on you. I have business to take care of and you’re in my way. I suggest you move, before my assignment changes.”

The Muzzle of Nemesis
Blushing faces meme with Nemesis, Nyoze, Gammon and Waiter!
A question had been asked. Simple, most likely, something not worth her time. With an annoyed expression she had turned to give a callous response, she was too busy for such ponderance. She was no tour guide, and gave no care to the state of another’s daily struggle.
Yet that was as far as she had gotten. As she turned, she saw the face of the child, and hers immediately paled. The question had immediately been forgotten. Her knees shook slowly at first, yet quickly became more rapid, until her legs buckled beneath her. The proud Marlon fell to her butt, no strength even to scramble backwards. “Wh, why?” she spoke, voice shaken to the point she had not reached since she left that forest.
“Why are you here? Why do you pursue me with such contention?”
It was the face of many throughout her history, yet there was one that she knew it as. The face of Punishment, her greatest accomplishment and mistake. Would the resounding song begin to play again? Perhaps from her madness more than reality, she could almost hear it’s soft and low beginning in the distance...
They say that everyone has at least one or two doppelgangers in the world. She’d seen it in her own, the boy within the box and those that came from above in the Graveyard. When one factored in world beyond, it became even more likely that this would occur.
Yet rationality was not with Nemesis at this time. One who dared wear her face should have been prepared for an event such as this, or so she thought to herself in her contained yet seething anger. Worse yet it felt as if the other were a mockery of her very being. In exact opposite to the assassin, this girl pranced about in a joyous manner, smiling and near skipping through the cityscape. A sense of utter revulsion welled in her stomach. So she’d followed the girl. For some time. By the gods was she annoyingly chummy, giving little chance for Nemesis to make any move. It was also harder to remain unseen then she had expected it to be. She had underestimated the other, to the point she wasn’t completely sure she had. There was a wariness to her that at least Nemesis could take solace that she was not purely made to mock her.
Finally, the crowd seemed to clear, and the girl took a route Nemesis knew. She took a side path, quickly moving to the turn she was certain the girl would make. Once the other did so, Nemesis yanked her into the unlit alley. Grim the End appeared in her hand, the key quickly forming a golden knife raised to the neck of the doppelganger.
“Name. Before you test my patience farther than I’m willing to extend it.” she spoke in a malicious whisper. The cold eyes looked into the warmth of the same faced woman in front of her, an irony that Nemesis did not yet understand.
//hey look it’s probably the only time I can use this icon
anyway, like this for a starter. Cap at 3. Castmates/Vocaloids exempt.
“ do you ever wonder… what things would be like if you could go back and change something in your life? ” she couldn’t sleep, so she resorted to hypotheticals to soothe her on this sleepless night. “ i just… something about all this time here makes me miss my family a lot. ”
“Hmph. A simpleton’s query.”
Nemesis rarely gave any care to the masses’s words. Even if spoken directly to her, she would oft ignore them. Yet these caught her ear. In a way much less than desired by the one who had uttered it certainly.
“Time spent wasted in thought of the past is time that will never return. The past is set as is. Only the future may be molded by our hands.” The words may have been inspirational, had they come from the mouth of another. Instead the dictator spat them out with near spite. As if to remove any possible indication they were meant optimistically, she continued into another statement. “Time spent on ‘family’ is even more pointless. They care not for you. You’re just a tool to farther their life of self indulgence. I would even wager money on it.”
“I see this place has not gotten rid of it’s rampant hero complexes. It’s like a breeding cesspool for such fools.”
A little help? - Gentarou/Nemesis
“Well I believe in fate, and the right place at the right time!”, he informed her.
Gentarou chuckled a bit, promising himself to get back to her suggestion. But first, he cracked the cap off the water, downing all of it in one go, some dripping off the sides of his mouth. He brought the bottle down, feeling pretty damn confident of himself. Whiping his mouth away, he met eyes once more with the green haired woman.
“Yeah, that could be a pretty wise investment. Or maybe I’m just not tough enough! I might have to get stronger…”, he pondered to himself. He shrugged it off, of course he was strong enough! He then startled himself as he realized he forgot to thank the girl.
“O-oh! And thanks! This damn bottle was giving me too much trouble! So thanks for that!”, he said gratefully, tossing the bottle behind his back, thinking he tossed it straight into the trash can. He heard it hit the pavement, and he turned, taking the walk of shame to drop it into the garbage.
“So, I have a pretty open schedule, and since we’re buddies, I say we should hang out!”, he offered, bumping the girl on the shoulder. As he did that, it came to him that he had no clue of this girls name.
“Oh, by the way, I’m Gentarou Kisaragi! The man who’s gonna befriend everyone in Hive City!” he shouted, pointing directly at her.
“And you are?”
Fate was a word Nemesis was certainly familiar with. However it was not one to which she found pleasant memories. Not in the fates she had moulded, those her mother had affected, nor even her own.
Fate was certainly real. And it was what she would tear apart with her own hands.
Yet despite these inner thoughts, Nemesis showed very little reaction to his words, not his actions. She simply watched as he once more made a fool of himself. On most days, Nemesis would have likely turned and left as the male went to retrieve his failure, leaving him to question how she disappeared. But on this day, she felt more.... generous was not the word, but the closest fit, or so she mused to herself.
Once more he countered his foolishness with proper manner, as crude a version it was. Instead of the blunt cruelty she may have given another time, she instead replied to him with slightly interested calmness.
"You must certainly believe in the virtue of humanity to assume we are 'buddies' from an interaction as simple as this. I do not /have/ friendships, and I shall certainly not start due to this." Despite her words however, she uncrossed her arms, an rare act in the presence of another that did not follow with a stab or bullet wound. Lightly pushing his hand to the side, Nemesis would answer his introduction with one of her own.
"Nemesis Sudou. Your goals are certainly noble, yet impossible to complete. Sin infests all beings, human or otherwise, and thus will impede your ideals to the point of destruction."

「Lips turned into a deceivingly amiable expression, the bluenette takes the glass he was polishing a moment ago and settles it under an ancient-looking hunk of metal, the café’s sorry excuse for an espresso machine. Nagisa pushes a few buttons and the machine whirs loudly for a few seconds, a moment he takes to shoot a glance back upwards at his lone customer.
An alarmingly abrasive attitude coupled with a stare that could make a small child cry - no doubt, this woman had been through quite a lot. He gulped silently, a strange nostalgia filling him; this “color”, it was definitely…
Black. The shade of a mercenary.」
「”Ah? I guess I’m not really suited for this sort of job,” he replied somewhat vaguely, taking out a few more containers. Deft fingers handled bottles and a fork, pouring both with one hand into a rusted pan and whisking it with the other, simmering it to a foam. “I’m just a student, nothing special. Although, my school doesn’t allow part-time work, so this might be breaking the rules, huh…”
A joking smile followed, seemingly to lighten the mood with his pleasant demeanor. Hiding his true emotions. Nagisa poured the contents of the pan into the espresso cup, layering the half-and-half with the coffee. A light, fluffy wrapping to a bitterly strong aroma. “Breve, our specialty,” the boy placed the cup on a saucer in front of her, a glint of hidden killing intent suspicion in his eyes as he peered towards the other, “Enjoy.”」
It was not so much as to be called a smile, but the edges of Nemesis's lips curled upwards slightly. It was merely a moment, such a small lapse in time, that it was near impossible to notice. But there was a change. Perhaps it was nothing more than a feeling, but as if she had locked eyes with that concealed serpent before at returned to hiding, she certainly understood. Not the exact, not the extent. But there was more to this boy. A hidden layer few would see, and that none would with ease. Yet she would not speak of it directly.
"Perhaps that is it. One who is untrained in work certainly would stick out in a place like this. Yes, someone untrained."
Of course this was in reference to the skill and speed in which he worked. This boy certainly masked /something/ well. However he was that, a boy. He did not properly hide the other signs of training. It was far too clear in the way he worked that there was more. More and more, Nemesis became interested. Taking the cup in her hand after a moment, she took a sip. More of a courtesy than anything, as she truly could care less about what was given. However as she drank, her eyes never once left her attendant, who despite his attempts to hide it, she knew was as well still watching her. With a small clang she placed the cup back on the saucer, before leaning in on the counter and continued to speak.
"Tell me of this school. You are an attendant after all, I would assume you are aware that implies communication as a part of service. I have never had the pleasure of attending school. I am.... interested in what one such as /you/ would do in such a place."
Worded in a way that none that did not understand the situation would find suspicious, the emphases on 'you' made it clear what she was truly asking. This boy held secrets locked within him, and Nemesis would pass this seal for sure. Even if she had to use the gleaming 'key' still held in her other hand to do so.
pop goes the birdie
The Deku Scrub frets, unseen eyebrows raising slightly on his wooden face. There were a few birds that tried to attack him, that carried a air of malevolence whether in his Hylian form or in the other shapes he took. He hadn’t meant to annoy the other, truthfully. He wasn’t entirely sure how much time he had left before his mask would be forcibly removed and he’d revert back.
“Well I’m glad for that, I’m sorry for the trouble..!”
He replied, his wooden face never changing yet. The threat she issues toward the boy flies over his head.
“I’ve had run ins with spiteful birds who’ve pecked and tried to steal from me before… so I wasn’t sure if some that habituated here were the same.”
There were the normal birds, but then the birds he suspected had some negative influence over them.
Such simple, kindhearted reasoning. Truly it would warm many a person's heart to know a stranger was out to protect them, even if the truth of the threat was insignificant.
Not Nemesis though.
"Pah, what a pathetic excuse. You cause more trouble than you save, hedge. If you have time to waste 'looking out' for people, then you are nothing but a child."
Harsh, scolding words rolled off her tongue as if they were nothing. The tact that many people would have to hold back over a simple mistake was no where to be seen. Perhaps it resided within the woman, but if it did, it was buried deep within. Her expression was not of anger, but of complete disinterest, albeit her tone made it clear she was far less than pleased.
"Do not think the world is so kind as to side with you. It would be a simple matter for me to turn this into a case of assault that any judge would find you guilty of. Only a rash fool needlessly 'aids' those who do not need it. You who have power, and chose to waste it are worth nothing in this life."
Of course, the accumulation of knowledge or skill that results from direct participation in events or activities was the kind that got Ikuko the most pleased. She cannot give free reign to make-up entertainment and so, she decided to make their conversation less difficult to analyze.
"Implying even you, yourself, have something you are terrified of, correct?"
“Fear is an arbitrary feeling. It is based on one’s own experience. I have never considered myself to be truly ‘brave’ either. I cannot deny the possibility that something may come along that shall instill fear apon me. However,”
Nemesis stopped for a moment. It was not to think of her words, nor was it for dramatic effect. Instead her thoughts turned to her past, flashing through moments of her life. Fear? She had felt it deeper than any. She knew what trye fear was. A feeling that few ever truly felf. And that was why she held the conclusion that she did.
“I have found the one who causes the most fear has the least to take in within them.”
You know, there is only so much disrespect a maiden can take. Even one such as her who prefers to be hated rather people pretending to like her had a limit. Being called trash and kicked for seemingly no reason was very much reaching it and exceeding it, hell, just calling her trash was enough to incite the doll’s anger. Considering her sour mood lately which was caused by a boy with a very stupid hairstyle, this could only end badly.
Before the force of the kick could push her small body completely back, she flew up. Hovering slightly higher than the women, the doll gave an extremely annoyed expression as her red eyes glared down at the other.
"I suggest you apologize now, child.”
It spoke.
Before it was nothing more than a small reminder of that thing that had caused her life so much turmoil.
It spoke.
It looked nothing like that creature, that hated being. And yet here it was, moving, speaking. This abomination dared to remind her of that disgusting creature. The fire lit within her, the rage she could hold down well once again reaching the surface. So much so, that just for a moment, that stoic, calm expression Nemesis held was broken. It was but a second of release, but the deepest depth of wrath could be seen in that time.
But that was just a moment. Returning to her normal state, Nemesis swatted at the pest that flew above her. Did it think height was intimidating?
“So the trash can move and speak? What a waste. Now then, apologize? what reason would I have for doing that? It as not as if something as insignificant as you would deserve such from me.”
First Impressions [Dungeon]

As he approached the massive structure he couldn’t help but feel rather surprised at just how much larger it seemed as he grew closer. A low hum rose from his throat. He wasn’t having second thoughts, not in the least. He would prove to this city that he was more than capable of holding his own, even without the use of his Stand or many of his other abilities. All he needed was his own strength and cunning. An underling certainly didn’t hurt.
Eyes flicked to Alessi, who was clearly nervous about the entire ordeal despite putting on a brave face. Though, given the way things were, he was a better candidate for staying out front and taking on anything that came their way. Without a Stand, which he had grown accustomed to having at his beck and call, Dio was rather vulnerable. Especially without most of his vampiric strength and abilities.
So, as they grew closer to the entrance of the dungeon, he paused for a moment, head tilting slowly to one side. As though listening for something, despite the fact that his enhanced senses had been dulled considerably. He would have to make it a point to drain these scientists dry if given the opportunity.
“You are welcome to accompany us, if you are feeling uneasy about entering.”
Said the man to a couple of nearby people. They didn’t look like much as far as strength went, but looks could be deceiving. And it would make little difference to him if they managed to get themselves killed within the confines of the dungeon. Given that there were traps, monsters, and all manner of different, dangerous obstacles within the dungeon, the larger the party that ventured forth, the more chance he had to arrive at the end. “We intend to get that prize at the end, after all.”
»axewieldingsethan
“Hrmph, I am not uneasy, I just shivered because it is cold out right now! Ugh! What an awful wind chill am I right? But yes, I will accompany you”
Alessi couldn’t just let Lord Dio go into this dungeon with two people who looked like the weakest people on Earth! Why would Dio choose THESE people?! What was his plan?
The dungeon was so huge! Good lord, there was no going back no was there? He took a deep breath and sighed loudly, opening up the dungeon doors and brandishing his axe.
“Hmmmmm, well, it looks safe so far”
“Well? Are you people coming or what?”

“Please do keep your toy quiet.” Nemesis said to the man clad in yellow, clearly the one in command. Completely overlooking the other, she stepped towards the large structure, not a flicker of fear showing.
“If you are to enter this, it would be foolish of me not to follow. An employer of mine wishes to obtain something from within. And I do not accept failure.”
Nemesis realized she was only requested to enter to act as a pawn. She knew she was being used. But that was fine, she would use them in term. Thus was the way a conqueror worked. She would meet her objective, and whatever tools fell at her disposal, she would certainly make use of, even if she had to act as one herself.
“I do not plan to slow myself for any of you however. Make sure you do not fall behind.”
Somehow it seemed her words were only aimed at the one holding the axe, neither of the others present.
As her gaze looked over the dungeon entrance, she took in and observed every part not covered in darkness. Shortly after, she gave a slight sigh.
“Safe so far you said, correct?”
Giving a quick kick to a part of the floor, the sound of a tile breaking came, followed shortly by the sound of a mechanism triggering, and then darts flying by. Changing her view to the apparent ‘leader’, she spoke with disapointment.
“If this was your your hope for a scout, you have made a poor choice.”
Finally, she turned to the last member of the group of misfits. Crossing her arms before she spoke, her voice was thoroughly unimpressed.
“Are you to enter as well child?”
