Cartoon Heroes Paper Cut-Outs
Count Duckula
Created by Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall and produced by Thames Television, Count Duckula initially debuted on British television channel ITV and was later re-syndicated in America on Nickelodeon. The series tells the tale of the dreadful dynasty of the counts of Duckula. These vampire ducks had terrorized the land many years in the past. They were killed off by sacred rites could bring them back to life. In the modern era, Igor and the servants of the counts attempted to resurrect the vampire, but something went awry when blood was replaced by catsup and Count Duckula was reborn, but this time as a vegetarian!
The reborn count found himself more interested in juicy carrots than hunting for victims. Igor is appalled. Even worse, his new master is obsessed with pursuing wealth and fame as an entertainer. The stories often revolve around Duckula's adventures in search of riches and fame. Another regularly occurring theme is the repeated attempt by Igor to turn Duckula into a proper vampire. Some episodes feature Duckula's nemesis Doctor Von Goosewing, a vampire hunter who blindly refuses to believe the current incarnation of Duckula is harmless.
Actor David Jason provided the voice for Duckula; with Jack May as Igor and Jimmy Hibbert voicing Von Goosewing. Count Duckula premiered in September of 1988 and ran for four seasons.
