A part of me wonders why I still do these yearly recaps.
I think it's because I can look back on the year and figure out how it panned out for me. Plus I don't post as often anymore on Tumblr, so it allows you all to at least have a look into my life the past year.
With 2025, it wasn't particularly an eventful year. I didn't do a whole lot, but it had some good and bad highlights:
After months of being sick and being resentful because of living in a nursing home, my grandfather finally passed. TBH, we were expecting it for a while. Getting my grandfather into the nursing home in the first place was a whole saga in itself in 2024, but after my parents, uncle and grandmother managed to get him to stay, he declined very quickly, then finally passed in April.
Had an uncle pass away in June. He had some issues with his lungs, but once he got sick quickly, it didn't take long before he passed. This need up leaving my aunt and second cousin(who they were raising after my cousin's passing years before) in a place they weren't expecting to be just yet. My aunt had to transfer my cousin to the school district in our area and there was a whole saga in making sure she could get to school for 2 weeks before they were able to set up transportation (drop me a question and I'll tell you the whole story).
The Etsy shop really took off! My busiest month were November and December, and my top sellers were my ice cream pint cozies and my Christmas-themed bowl cozies. I'm taking January a bit slow right now, then I have to start working on more inventory (including some more holiday themed bowl cozies. I had one order where someone ordered 11 CHRISTMAS BOWL COZIES! Granted they were on sale, but after I had sent out the order I had to rush and make 11 more to fill out my inventory for the craft fair I had coming up 2 weeks later). Check it out if you haven't already. I plan on having all my plush toys on sale for most of January.
Found out Mid-December that the company that I work for got acquired by a bigger company. Thankfully I still have a job. I just wasn't expecting to have to go through that, since there was no indication that the company was going through any sort of acquisition or sale. So now I'm in the middle of transitioning into the new company while preparing to go into our busy season, which BTW, is a lot more on my plate than I would like. The only worry I have is that this company is mostly a remote company, so there's a slight chance I might have to go to remote work somewhere down the line (which would be a struggle for me. I prefer having that clear separation between work and home which my position gives me currently).
My parents put their home in an irrevocable trust. Which means if something happens to them (sickness, being put in a home, etc.), outside entities cannot come after the home (in basic terms). Me and my sister were put as trustees to the trust, so it means I have a place to live in case of a worst case scenario.
The usual burnout from just the world in general. Especially with the current powers.
The only thing I know I want from 2026 is a lot less. of everything. Whether that is possible is a mystery. I'll probably ask for the same thing or something similar when typing out 2026's recap.
It's been a lot. Especially the past few years. Whether it stays like that remains to be seen.
I hope everyone's 2026 is peaceful and eventful (in the best way possible, not chaotic and stress-inducing). It seems like everyone needs it.
