People need to understand that when bigots trot out the “glorifying obesity” line, they do it because people like Lizzo out there gloriously living their life while fat threatens the system of oppression, at all levels.  It threatens the system where women are supposed to only have self-worth if men give it to them by finding them attractive/fuckable.  It threatens the capitalistic system supported by women being so desperate to be thin they’ll spend most of their money on diet systems that don’t work.  It threatens the system where only people who won the genetic lottery and remain thin without effort, or those who make their lives miserable to get and try to stay thin, get to be happy.

It has nothing to do with actually glorifying obesity, and everything to do with the system being threatened.
