âAsh, wait up!â I yelled while trying to catch up to my best friend. He stopped in his tracks while looking around to see who was yelling his name. Once his eyes met mine his lips broke out into a smile. I met him quickly and he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer into his body. My smile grew as we began to talk about our plans for the weekend.Â
âCan we go out tonight? I know a party thatâs going on a block away, I can pick you up at your place and we can walk over.â I nodded my head at his words, trying to make a decision in my head.Â
âYeah, that sounds nice. Frat party? Or your kind of people party?â I giggled while sitting down at the table in the small cafe we had just entered.Â
âDefinitely not a frat party, so I guess closer to my kind of scene. Why does that matter?â He rolled his eyes before sending me a wink.Â
âI just need to know what kind of party Iâm walking in to.âÂ
Once Ashton and I got done with our coffees we made our separate ways back to our dorms. I sat down at my small desk, clearly given to us for studying, that had been turned into a makeup vanity instead, and started to get ready for the party. I wiped my makeup from earlier off, deciding that it would be better if I worked with a clean canvas. After applying and setting my foundation with powder I began looking for my favorite eyeshadow palette. Once I found it I looked at the different colors that were in it. I debated on whether or not I should do a bolder look than I normally would, I mean it was Ashtonâs type of crowd after all and theyâre a little bit out there than a regular frat party would be. I did a neutral taupe color in my crease while adding a darker brown and eventually a plum color on my outer lid. As I was cutting the crease my phone started to buzz from a call from Ashton.
âWhatâs up, Ash?â I asked after answering.Â
âIâm here, are you almost ready?â I could hear the slight annoyed-joking tone in his voice.Â
âNot yet, but come on up and Iâll let you in.â
He sighed before speaking, âStell, youâre gonna make us late.â I hung up after assuring him that it wouldnât happen. It wasnât long after I finished packing a shimmer eyeshadow on to my lid that Ashton knocked on my door. I quickly opened it before sitting back down on my chair and starting my eyeliner. Ashton sat down on my bed before swinging his legs up to where he felt comfortable. After I applied my mascara and grabbed the clothes I wanted to wear I made my way into my bathroom. I had picked out a pair of black skinny jeans, a simple burgundy top and a denim jacket along with a pair of black boots. Once I walked out I noticed Ashton waiting by the door.Â
âEager now are we?âÂ
âTook you long enough,â he joked as I grabbed my phone and keys off my desk and following him out.
Ashton opened the door to the apartment where the party was held in and allowed me to slip through first. I looked around, taking in the scene in front of me. I noticed the small kitchen area near the door covered in various alcohol bottles and red cups. The smell of weed clouded my senses as I noticed the foggy essence of the room.Â
âThis way,â Ashton led me with a hand on the small of my back through the party closer to where people were smoking. We joined the circle, close to where the blunt was being passed. Ashton took a long hit before blowing the smoke up into the air and passing it to me. I stared at the end of it, kind of grossed out with how many peopleâs mouths had been on it, before I took a long drag. My lungs filled with smoke and I continued to breathe in after handing the blunt to the person next to me before I blew the smoke out.
I leaned over to Ashton and whispered in his ear, âwhere did they get that weed? Like who sells it?â He smiled lightly and looked around before nodding his head towards a tall guy standing in the corner on his phone, with a beer in the other hand.Â
âHeâs the local guy, he sells a lot of different things, Iâm sure he can get you anything you want.â The guy was cute, that was obvious but he seemed so mysterious and definitely dangerous.
âWant me to introduce you guys?â Ashton joked while I watched the nameless man open the patio door and walk out.Â
âYou know I would, but youâre too much of a pussy.â I smirked before grabbing the blunt from his fingers and taking a hit before blowing the smoke out, angled up to where it went right above his head. His jaw dropped lightly before he grabbed my wrist and led me over to where the drinks were.
âIf you want me to introduce you to him youâll need a little bit of liquid courage.â My jaw dropped a little bit and lightly smacked his chest before he poured us both two shots. We downed them fully and I reached for a bottle of Smirnoff, twisting off the cap before taking a swig. His hand dropped to my back as he led me out the same door the man before had exited out of. The man was standing at the corner of the patio, swiping on his phone and drinking from the same bottle he had earlier.Â
âWhatâs up, Calum,â Ashton said while walking over, me in tow.Â
âHey bro, what can I do for you?â The man, I presumed to be now named Calum, looked me up and down slightly before looking at Ashton again. I was so mesmerized by the manâs face and how his smile reached his eyes while he laughed and how his eyes crinkled up on the side.
âThis is Stella, by the way. She liked the weed you sold the people inside.â I blushed at Ashtonâs comment and looked down at the ground when I heard Calum let out a small laugh.Â
âNice to meet you,â I still stared at the ground somewhat, unable to meet his eyes. Ashton and Calum continued to talk for a bit until I heard someone call Ashton from the door. Ashton took off and I was standing by myself with Calum. I looked at my bottle for a second before taking a long swig of it. Calum on the other hand took out a packet of cigarettes from his back pocket and cursed under his breath causing me to look at him.Â
âYou wouldnât happen to have a light now would you, babygirl?â My eyes widened at his pet named for me before I searched my jacket pocket for a lighter. I sparked the lighter as he met me halfway with the cig hanging out of his mouth. I smiled before putting the lighter back in my pocket.Â
âSo how do you know Ashton?â I asked trying to make light conversation.Â
âMet in class and heâs a regular buyer now, but I always cut him a deal. How do you know him?âÂ
âI ran into him in the art studio and he helped me out with a project last semester because he had the same teacher and project when he was a freshman.âÂ
âWatch out!â I heard from behind me as Calum wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer to his body to get me out of the way of the guy that had just decided it would be a good idea to throw up in the back yard rather than the bathroom. My eyes met Calumâs before I awkwardly detached myself from him. He laughed lightly as he watched me fumble over my words, filled with sorrys and that I should get going.Â
âIâll see you around, babygirl.â Calum said I opened the patio door, searching for Ashton as soon as I got into the apartment. I saw him talking to a girl that he was probably planning on sleeping with. She was leaning against the wall while he hand his hand by her head and their chests close to each other.
I walked over and lightly tapped his shoulder, catching him off guard before he spoke, âwhatâs up?âÂ
âIâm heading home, okay? You have fun, and be safe,â I sent him a wink before heading out the door of the apartment and starting my walk. It wasnât long until a car pulled up next to me and I stopped as I heard the window roll down.Â
âHop in,â was all he said as I walked over to the window, leaning down just enough to see him.Â
âMy dorm is right around the corner itâs okay.âÂ
âJust get in, babygirl. Let me take you home.â I couldnât ignore how much my body lit up as he used that pet name. I slid into the seat and closed the door, signaling for him to pull off. After he pulled up to my dorm building I got out without a word before he pulled off, leaving me just as confused by him as I was in the beginning.Â
