I have had to experience so much stupidity, so many vices, so much error, so much nausea, disillusionment and sorrow, just in order to become a child again and begin anew. I had to experience despair, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths, to thoughts of suicide, in order to experience grace.

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?“ — Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Secret to Happiness in Five Sentences
The natural state of human experience is serene joy.
The three things that negatively affect this natural state are pain, dealing with adversity and negative thinking either in the form of past regret or imagined painful futures.
Most of the time we are not dealing with adversity at that moment nor are we in physical pain.
Thus, thought and thought alone is responsible for the vast majority of our emotional turmoil, disharmony and unhappiness.
Stopping thought, even for a few minutes a day, returns us to our natural state of serene joy and by so doing prepares us to deal with adversity when it does come.
Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.

“Someday, we’ll forget the hurt, the reason we cried and who caused us pain. We will finally realize that the secret of being free is not revenge, but letting things unfold in their own way and own time. After all, what matters is not the first, but the last chapter of our life which shows how well we ran the race. So smile, laugh, forgive, believe and love all over again.” — Unknown Author

“Serotonin. The hormone for happiness. Good for people with a mental illness.”
“You need to associate with people that inspire you, people that challenge you to rise higher, people that make you better. Don’t waste your valuable time with people that are not adding to your growth. Your destiny is too important.” — Joel Osteen
Even when the world is filled with sorrow I will keep painting for that better tomorrow — A repaint of my 2009 drawing, Hope and Despair. Some people have mentioned how this new version feels more hopeful than the original. I feel that way too. I’ve been very happy these days, and it feels like everything will be alright again :)
Thank you again to everyone who reached out and supported me when I was feeling down during the beginning of this year. I’ve been working on a lot of different projects, and I’m excited to share with everyone when things are ready!
I’ll also be posting a video tutorial of how this was created by integrating 3D backgrounds in a few days. Stay tuned!
Sketching a thing. It may become a proper thing at some point. With ink and everything.
