A selection of my illustrations that are available to buy over at my INPRNT store.
Five minute spaceship sketch.
Iâve been working a lot digitally this year using Procreate on the iPad, so itâs nice to pick up a pen and sketch.
Rob Turpin, aka thisnorthernboy, is a designer and illustrator working in traditional media â pens, ink, pencil â he spends his time drawing robots, spaceships, castles, and imaginary places. He has illustrated a childrenâs book on castles and is currently writing and illustrating his first childrenâs picture book. Rob

Hello, itâs been a whileâŚ
Hi folks. Itâs been a while since Iâve posted on Tumblr. I guess keeping a presence on multiple platforms has proved tricky. I know a lot of people, particularly in art are still using Tumblr, or are beginning to for the first time.
I think my question is - how do I make it more social here? Iâve got quite a lot of followers, but donât really get much engagement - in terms of likes and reblogs. But I think what I miss on Tumblr, compared to other platforms, is the social aspect. Is that just how Tumblr is? Is it simply more for sharing content?
If anyone has any advice, that would be great.
In the mean time - hereâs a big old robot. Drawn in Procreate on an iPad.

The Fleet of Karmaliuk - New Print to Raise Money for Ukraine
Iâve donated to charities helping the humantarian effort in Ukraine. Iâve given directly to some Ukrainian artists I follow on social media. Iâve amplified the voices of those suffering. It doesnât seem enough. Nothing is really is it? But as an illustrator who sells prints, it seems stupid not to use that platform too.
So hereâs the Fleet of Karmaliuk. A new print from myself and Ellipress. All the profits are split between UNICEF and the DEC fund for Ukraine.
Available in a range of sizes, and printed on 308gsm photo rag - itâs a lovely thing.Â
Itâs available to buy here, and we ship worldwide.
If youâre not able to purchase right now, and we know itâs a tough time for everyone, weâd really appreciate a share. Thank you.

Innsmouth Lights - Colour prints.
Protecting the gravitationally challenged shores of Innsmouth, are the Innsmouth Lights. A series of floating lighthouses erected on the sites of interdimensional portals. Passage close to the islands is, usually, safe - except on certain days of the year when the membranes between worlds are at their most permeable.

Wildflower meadows and Jack Russell Terriers.
Had a fantastic walk in the Hampshire countryside today. Lotâs of wildflower meadows, sunny glades, and dappled forests. Really pretty idyllic. Got a few images with my Fuji X-T4.

Weird Field World, Rob Turpinâs first book, tells the story of how humanity breaks out from the boundaries of their limited space technology; with help from unknown aliens.
In 2089 a message is received on Earth with instructions on how to build a new type of spaceship. One that can reach Mars in days rather than months, and Jupiter in weeks rather than years.
The book is packed to the gunwales with illustrations, sketches and maps showing the new exotic spaceships along with the people and stories that surround them.
Weird Field World, funded on Kickstarter, smashed its stretch goal in just 36 minutes.
