Henry is a level 20 Druid. I roll for most things and am cursed by the rng gods so it’s fine I promise. I will not do anything story altering without checking in with the players involved first.

The story remains the same as canon up until season 2 begins I will elaborate more soon.

Mercedes frowns. She looks at Birdie.

Chickpea...

Her words trail off, trying to word this. She feels lost.

He... he does want to stay. He just feels responsible for saving the kids from where they are.

I don't want him to leave either, I know in my heart that Henry doesn't want to leave us behind.

She starts walking again.

Do you want to tell Henry how you feel? Maybe that'll make you feel better. Or at least you'll get your feelings on him leaving out in the open.

You don't have to. If it's fine with you, I can bring it up to Henry instead. I won't say anything if you don't want me to.

She shakes her head. Mercedes didn't know how Henry had almost immediately gone from fighting Willy to trying to rescue Hen on his own. How he'd seemed to have gone after Willy in response to Lark being, well, Lark. It was like every time something went wrong, he found an adventure that could somehow fix it and used it as an excuse to leave.

And what was the point of telling him? Either he'd agree or he'd deny it and promise it wasn't true, and his promises didn't mean anything anymore. He'd say whatever it takes to get her to let her guard down.

And if she did tell him, it would probably make him sad, and if he was sad, he'd want to leave.

I don't think I can tell him.

Mercedes takes a deep breath, keeping calm.

She does her best to shrug while being held and unable to feel most of her arms.

It is important. It's your feelings, which are important. I can bring it up with Henry later.

Mercedes sighs. She starts humming again, using that as a stopping point for their conversation.

She sniffles, and presses her ear against Mercedes so she can hear her hum, but also feel the buzz in creates in her chest. She still doesn't know where to hide once she gets home. None of her previous hang ups had really resolved. Maybe the fort could work if she used her headphones as an extra layer to block things out.

When they get to the house Birdie notices the door is still open, which at least means that Mercedes doesn't have to figure out how to open it without letting her go. That helps quiet the small part of her mind that was worried that Henry would have left while they were gone, but he wouldn't have left the door open.

Mercedes walks into the house, she closes the door behind her with ease without having to let go of Birdie. (23 slight of hand roll)

Do you want to be there when I talk to Henry? If not, I'll wait to talk to him until you want me to let go.

She leads her way into the living room, finding a spot to sit down that isn't part of Birdie's fort. She sits, keeping her hold on Birdie.

Birdie shakes her head. She's had enough feelings for probably the next couple of weeks really, and she doesn't think she'd be able to stay calm listening her parents going over everything.

While still being held, she does have a little more room for movement and tries rubbing at her arms, seeing if she can get them back to feeling normal.

It usually doesn't feel this significant and pronounced, but she's acutely aware in this moment, being held by her mother, that she has memories of being four years old and cuddling on this couch with her mom, those early childhood memories get to have Mercedes in them, and Henry's absence feels more pronounced than usual today.

She glances around the living room, testing to see how much of the world is still spinning, only to find it's settled down considerably.

She waits maybe two more minutes before saying

I think, I'll curl up with some music in my fort.

Mercedes nods.

That's fine. I'll come check on you once I finish talking with Henry.

She stops holding Birdie, so Birdie can go curl up into her fort.

I hope that helps you feel better. I can bring you some water. You've done a lot of crying and are most likely dehydrated.

She gives Mercedes a quick hug before clambering over to the fort, turning on the twinkle lights, and throwing on her noise cancelling headphones.
