I don’t really like the whole fighting thing either. Kinda hurts… And all it does here is get you thrown in some room by yourself that you can’t get out of. So yeah. Fights? Bad.

Then we can talk all the time! Is Cass short for something? I’m Chris. Technically Christopher, but that takes too long to say and- um. Yeah, anyway… Nice to meet you.

Especially with me. My 'gift,' if you can call it that, is that I cause anyone who touches me pain. Really bad pain. Oh. Are you a patient then?

I wouldn't mind that. It's short for Cassandra. I don't really like it so much, so Cass is better. It's a pleasure Chris.

She pursed her lips a little, shrugging the girls comments of as best she could. Not everyone is like that, but those are some of the most interesting people to meet. It's better than staying cooped up in my room all damn day long. The first step to making a friend is saying hello!

I guess someone has to find it interesting, or we wouldn't have doctors. She grinned a little. It's like hearing voices in your head, really. Sometimes it gets annoying though. I don't know how to make them stop. Listening intently, she nodded as the doctor spoke before answering. My name is Cassandra Todd. I like to be called Cass though. Yes, I'm a new student. I've only been here for a couple of weeks I think.

Well, I am a doctor, so it’s something I enjoy seeing. But I probably shouldn’t do so because I don’t want it to scar. So that’s probably the last you’ll hear of that. I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not. If you really can read minds, then how about telling me what I was up to last night? [She may or may not have been thinking how last night she had been at a bar and eyeing a few of the customers. Obviously off school grounds so if she wasn’t being truthful, she wouldn’t know.] So, what am I thinking, hot shot?

That makes it seem a little more normal, but still gross. I'm pretty good at being sarcastic, but I wasn't trying to be. She giggled a little. I can try, but it's hard because I can hear everyone's at once. It's kind of hard to pick one out, but I can try. Cass closed her eyes and concentrated, scrunching up her face as she listened. Okay, you're either hoping we have tacos for dinner, thinking about breaking a window, or something about a bar? Hm. I didn't think doctors were supposed to drink. The instant she opened her eyes a dull ache made its way into her head, and she rubbed her temples gently.

Sometimes there’s fights, so that takes away that quiet thing now and then. Then, there’s some of those seriously crazy people who yell to themselves.

I’m not among those kinds of people, for the record. I just talk - a lot.

I don't think I have to worry about fights, at least for myself. I'm generally quite passive. I hear them yelling sometime. It's a little scary.

Oh, I don't mind the talking. I'm the same way. I'm Cass, by the way.

I’m 33 years old, and I still pick at scabs because I like to see how the body works to send platelets to that injured area to stop the bleeding with clotting. Once a geek, always a geek.

I'm 19 and that's really disgusting. Did you have to share that? Not like it matters. I would've heard you thinking about it anyway.

Cass furrowed her brows, a little hurt by the insult. Gee. I hope you aren't always this friendly. That would be annoying. She grinned, proving she new perfectly well what sarcasm was.

I’m sure it would be. But then what would you do with all of the silence? I bet it’d be enough to really make you go crazy.. Oh, alright then. Don’t worry, I’m not that stupid. I wasn’t going to try.

I don’t think that people are supposed to leave, but there’s a few people that do anyway. I haven’t left since I got here, I know that much. Well, now you have. I promise I try not to be as strange as some… Not sure if that works though. A while. Probably longer than most anyone else here, so I would say I do.

Wow. Are things different for patients and students though? I should probably make it a point of finding these things out. She let out a quiet laugh. Well, you seem to be doing well so far. I'm not completely freaked out or anything. I hope I won't be here for long, but I have no idea how long it takes to learn about 'gifts' and controlling them.
