He doesn't honestly understand what Urianger is apologizing for; he's barely registering the fact that he's in pain anymore, and he has his doubts that that he could make him feel anything at this point, considering how numb he is. Even when he coughs and blood comes up with it, he hardly feels the ache that normally comes with such an action when heavily injured.
It'd be easier to just close his eyes. Minnie's safe, and he knows that Urianger will keep her safe without a doubt-- probably safer than he's been able to.
She'd know he cares about her, at the very least-- be a better guardian for her.
He thinks he's numb to pain, that he's able to keep from giving any indication that he's hurting, but it suddenly feels like something very hot has been slammed into the gaping wound in his side, searing the skin and muscle, as the astrologian tries desperately to close the gaping wound and he cannot help the cry that he chokes out.
Thancred's eyes open for a moment, and he can make out Minnie looking frantic and hovering nearby, no doubt worried about the sound he'd just made.
'At least it wasn't a curse,' he thinks to himself, though the agonized sound he'd made probably was hardly better.
What's she still doing in here anyways?
He tries to speak, but at first all he can do is cough and groan; the burning has yet to stop, for which he wonders if Urianger is grateful. It's keeping him at least slightly conscious. He sucks in a breath, and through gritted teeth, wills himself to get some words out.
"Get... Get her--" Thal's giant Balls, that smarts. He manages to grip at one of Urianger's wrists; he isn't sure what he hopes to accomplish with the action-- get his attention? Get him to stop for one bleeding moment? Have something to ground himself with and hope having something physical to tether him will keep him from slipping away?
He tries to take a steady breath, or steadier than the small gasps for air he was just doing after his last attempt to speak, and tries again, hissing through clenched jaw,
"She doesn't-- doesn't need..."
'She doesn't need to watch me die,' he thinks, and hopes that somehow, maybe Urianger is able to understand him.
