[OOC] - I always hate when shit like this comes up, but I've run out of other options at this point..
[OOC] - I always hate when shit like this comes up, but I've run out of other options at this point..
"I think its better theres noise. When things go quiet, you know something went wrong. Like how I used to get really quiet whenever I hurt myself but I didn't want to bother you when I first came to the village."
"In cases like that, it's true," his ears twitch forward, arms crossing over his chest as he leaned back slightly in his chair, "But the 'quiet' I'm referencing is of a different nature.. I have a bad feeling, Collei. Please stay on your guard for the time being, and make sure to double-check our stocks and supplies for the rangers too."
"It never stays quiet for long.."
[OOC] - I love Ritsu~
He's been in bed all afternoon, but that won't stop him from his note taking and his studies, especially not when he's recently obtained new specimens from Nod-Krai and Natlan to observe.
"You want me to rest, but... also study?" Wrenn raised a brow at the sentiment. Then, he snickered. "Sure, whatever--though I have plenty of novels to read through."
They were fairytale novels, something he had grown to love and adore ever since his adventure into Simulanka. Nothing had yet to come close to such a story, but...
In a weird way, they were comforting.
"Since you're so insistent on hovering over me, I guess you might as well take all of the food I made from my house. It'll keep you fed and not have to worry about meals for a while." He gestured with his head in the vague direction of his own home. "... And if it's too much or you don't want something, you can give the rest away."
Wrenn still had no idea why he had made so much food... But he'd rather someone eat it than it all go to waste.
"So, Karkata... How's he doing? You mentioned he missed me?"
"I heard talk of how you people were smelling what you were cooking all afternoon, so anything you made that can be transportable and doesn't perish we can take along with us as well," although he can't fathom why Wrenn would prepare so much, something told him in the back of his mind that even Wrenn wouldn't be able to say.
"Well, the last time I saw him, he was looking for you. I even made certain to ask for clarification. I think he's really grown fond of when you visit him in the garden," although the reasons why were beyond him, Tighnari simply found it fascinating..
and a little adorable.
"Perhaps it's something to do with his programming, or something that's been developed on it's own, but who can really say?"
"Haaah? Remove me--?"
He knew Tighnari was worried about him, sure--but this was entirely new. Taking him off of his usual duties and chores, making Wrenn stay with him until otherwise?
While Wrenn didn't usually mind staying with Tighnari, something about this time felt different. It made him rebellious, even--wanting to fly out of reach to do whatever he damn well pleased.
But... there was real, genuine concern in Tighnari's eyes. It was enough to dampen his rebellious spirit, and he hung his head.
"... Can I at least have a book or something if you're going to put me on such a heavy lockdown?" He asked with a grumble. "I'd rather not be bored out of my damn mind."
Because having absolutely nothing else to do except self-maintenance sounded like absolute hell.
As Wrenn relented, the relief started in Tighnari's shoulders, a smile finally finding his lips.
"A book? Of course, you'll want more than just one. In fact, I'd recommend taking some research material with you when we go.. I'd also like to ask you a few questions for my notetaking. Sure, it would be far easier for me to study the plant species in Nod-Krai in person, but I'd like to postpone any travel until we're all in a better position for it.. so, I will simply have to poke your brain instead."
Perhaps with enough time the information provided by Wrenn could give him inspiration for some new material for Collei's studies as well..
"At the moment however, I want you to focus on taking some time off. I do have some research notes you can look over to give your mind something to focus on."
The tone Tighnari took with him almost felt like scolding--so Wrenn almost immediately averted his gaze. The other spoke of trauma, of processing, of rest--all of those things felt so... distant to him.
He just wanted to show Tighnari the cute little critters in Nod-Krai... right?
Surely that was all it was. Surely...
"I'm not tired," he eventually replied with. "I don't need rest."
The growing bags under his eyes suggested otherwise--that rather than being energized, it was that restful sleep could not find him.
How could it? The demon Tighnari spoke of continued to haunt the back of his eye lids, even after death. How could he rest when such a thing haunted his very dreams?
"I don't know what you mean by 'you've been a processing mess', either," he huffed. "I'm fine."
Though he believed the words he had said, for some reason, they still felt like a lie.
"You're anything but fine, and I'm not the only one who can tell. I'm certain if we were to ask for her opinion, Lord Kusanali would agree with me without hesitation," as much as he didn't enjoy having to bring the lord of Dendro into it, if push came to shove Tighnari knew she would be there within an instant to assist.
The ranger, although feeling the light sting of frustration, remained calm as he crossed his arms. If Wrenn wasn't going to take the steps needed to help himself, than he was left with no other choice..
"For the time being, I'm going to remove you from the rangers schedule and roster, and instead I want you to limit your activities to only essential duties for your own self maintenance. You're to stay with me while we're here, and assist Karkata with the garden when we visit Pardis Dhyai in a few days. He's missed you, by the way."
"Huh? Why?" He's not even thinking about the Trauma™️. He just wanted to show Tighnari the little critters... "Oh, you mean to hold down the fort, or something? I guess I can do that..."
For some reason, he kind of wants to go with Tighnari on the trip though... but with how serious Tighnari looks, he doesn't dare express that desire.
"Wrenn," he repeated, his voice heavier.
Tighnari had to holdback the urge to shake his head; he and Cyno were so alike at times, though not always in the best ways.
"I'm saying this for your own good. Regardless of my desire to study and to travel, I don't want to put you into a position where you could end up compromising yourself," he sighed, bringing a hand up to his chin as he contemplated how to best approach the topic.
In the end, being blunt was the best course, and his forte.
"You've just experienced what most would consider a traumatizing event. Yes you faced your demon out there in Nod-Krai, you came out on top of it with the help of the traveler and his companions.. but your mental state did not come out of it unscathed. You have been a processing mess since the moment you returned, and I know for a fact that returning to that space is not what is in your best interest at this point in time. What you need now is to stay here and to rest, in your own home, where you belong. You need to rest, Wrenn."

Wrenn is waiting for the command. Just say so and he'll go drag one back for you--or, better idea--"I could take you to Nod-Krai to study them."
For as much as he wants to.. Tighnari shakes his head.
"I think it's best for you to stay here in Gandharva Ville for now."
"They're very cute! ...Well, the small ones are a the very least. While out exploring the area, Paimon and I ran into a particularly large and aggressive specimen as well."
"Ugh! Don't remind me! It covered Paimon in its stinky pollen!"
"Large and aggressive.. stinky pollen you say? ..What sort of scent would you describe experiencing, Paimon?"
Now they've done it, as within seconds the botanist is armed with his notepad and pen, scribbling down every last detail, thirsty for the information like sponge to water.
"Would you say it's aggression came from it's size, or do you believe there were other factors involved? Like when two Rishboland Tigers fight over their territory? Or perhaps a reaction from something within the environment? I've been told an odd source of elemental power called kuuvahki exists within Nod-Krai, and plays a rather large role in the phytogeography there. I would love to go there and study myself, perhaps I'll place a request at the Akademiya for a short leave, as I did with Natlan.."
They are created a monster.. or would it be considered resurrecting?
He wishes to see a mandragora for himself..
"... Hah...?"
Oh, shoot. He walked right into a trap, didn't he? This felt all too familiar...
"Hey--" he protested, taking but then he shut his mouth. Shame filled his chest again, and he glanced away. "It's nothing really worth talking about. Dottore is dead, and... that's all there is to it."
Yet Tighnari's offer to sit down, to boil water for tea... it brought back the feelings of exhaustion from the whole ordeal as well. So with a soft sigh, he relented, and followed Tighnari to the table to sit down at.
"I guess... it was a lot," he admitted. "There was... a lot happened."
"The Doctor?"
Tighnari felt a soft shudder race down his tail along with a squeeze in his chest. In the back of his mind, he knew that the loss of any life, no matter who's it was, was something that should bring him such a sense of relief.. but he immediately understood the weight of what must have pushed itself down onto Wrenn's shoulders.
Facing his demons again.. but this time, Tighnari knew Wrenn hadn't faced them alone.
"I see.. Well, this calls for some stronger tea," he nodded, turning himself about to begin preparing the water, and picking out the bags for which he'd brew.
For only a moment, Tighnari felt tension in his wounded arm, but he wouldn't pause. "It certainly sounds like a lot went down, far more than even what you've experienced.. I'm thankful the Traveler was there for you, in my stead. I'll have to send him a letter in thanks."
Wrenn winced again, ducking his head and averting his eyes. Tighnari didn't press him for information, but...
How much did he hear?
"Mmm... Yeah, it was pretty hectic. To put it lightly." Wrenn kept his gaze averted. "I won't lie and say it was easy. But... yeah, the worst of it was dealt with."
At a loss, at a price... but also with a high risk as well.
"I'll always come home in one piece," he uttered. "So you don't need to worry so much."
"You know, Wrenn.." Tighnari hummed, shaking his head, "You, Collei, and Cyno all have the same tells.. I'm not approaching you because of any knowledge I have of your condition, or any idea as to what happened.. I am not all-knowing, yet you all seem to show that there is indeed something I should be concerned with.."
Tighnari offered another smile, this one warmer, with a touch of concern lacing his voice.
"Whatever it is, you know you can talk to me. Just because the 'danger' is over, doesn't mean the tension is gone. Come sit down, I'll boil some water for tea."
Wrenn winced at Tighnari's words, feeling shame pool in his stomach. Ah, shit...
"Tighnari..." he started, albeit a bit lamely, before he sighed. "... I'm home. Sorry, I didn't want to disturb you."
He was Totally Telling the Truth and Not trying to Hide Anything, no...
"Mh, it makes me wonder what you think you would be disturbing, to the point where I wouldn't want to see you returning home," Tighnari shook his head, moving next to stand up from his seat so he could approach the other, who had been oh-so-'quietly' trying to make a sneaky escape..
Wrenn wasn't the first to try it.
Regardless, the botanist offered him a small smile, head tilting to one side with arms resting over his chest, "Welcome home. Lord Kusanali had informed me that things seemed a little hectic over in Nod-Krai. I'm glad to hear that the worst was dealt with.. and of course even more-so to see you're still in one piece"
