Hi guys. For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Jessica and my home is Wilmington, North Carolina. I’ve debated making this post for quite some time, but I’m sort of beyond the point of putting it off now.

A few weeks ago, Hurricane Florence slammed into the North Carolina coast and Wilmington was among the areas hit the hardest. In the grand scheme of things, I got pretty lucky. Lucky in the sense that I didn’t lose everything. However, I did have problems. Which is why I’m writing this post.

My screen door blew off, and still hasn’t been found. The wind broke the frame of my wooden door, and that’s where the trouble really started. Because the door was broken and messed up, my house flooded. The floors soaked up enough water that they’re going to have to be replaced. There was mold or mildew (I’m honestly not sure) growing around the wooden frames from the standing water. The whole thing is just. A mess.

And now, Hurricane Michael is about to dump another few inches of rain right on top of us. I’m terrified of what could happen to my home.

That is why I’m making this post. I currently don’t have the money for a new door, but as you can imagine, it’s freaking me out for my house to not be secured. It isn’t safe from the weather, and it isn’t safe from someone just breaking in if they wanted to. The door isn’t the only thing that needs to be fixed, and I know that. I’m going to end up having to replace the floors as well. But my focus right now is on the door. If I can get the door fixed, I at least know that no one can just walk in. I know that a new door will keep even more water from coming in and making the floors even worse.

The cheapest I can get a new door and screen door is around $1,000. If I can get a portion of that? If I can get any help in any way it would be so incredibly appreciated. I can’t even begin to explain how much it would mean to me, how much it would help if I could get just a little closer to being able to buy a new door.

Ignis often wondered if Gladio or Noctis had any idea of the special connection that he and Prompto shared. It sounded a bit silly to say it that way, but there was no other way to explain it. They enjoyed each other’s company beyond that of simply friendship. No, it was more than that. It was care and love and. His feelings went even farther beyond that. He did his best to hold them back for a while, to keep from putting pressure onto Prompto. But it was hard not to be completely honest with him about everything. So instead, he savored every moment the younger wanted to be around him. “Now you and I both know that with your work comes compliments. There is simply no getting around that. You have a wonderful talent, Prompto. I’m simply reminding you of that.” The older smiled as he looked down at the pictures, shaking his head as he took them in. “I’ve never seen anything like this.” Ignis said, leaning over Prompto’s shoulder to get a better look at the small screen. “Your photographs are breathtaking, Prompto.”

Ignis always kept an eye on the younger blonde boy. He had this drive to make absolutely certain that no matter what, Prompto was kept safe. Of course, his duty to protect Noctis would always come first. He had promised his life to the young king-to-be. But there was just something about Prompto. Something that drove him to be better, to be more than what he usually was, all for him. So to see the young man sprinting his way, he put a hand out in an attempt to make sure Prompto didn’t end up falling directly onto his face. Ignis let out a sound that was akin to an oomf as he found himself wrapping his arms around Prompto. The advisor was honestly thankful they stayed upright, and hadn’t ended up sprawled out on the ground. “Right then. Well, let’s see it. It must be as amazing as all the others if you’re this excited to share.” He smiled slightly, reaching up to nudge his glasses back up onto his nose.

As he looked down at a bloodied Gladio, he didn’t want to imagine what would have happened if they had lost him. If he had lost him. “I almost lost you. I can not lose you.”

But he felt like if anyone understood him, Prompto would. He belonged. He was a part of their family. He always had been.
