I’ve had a few breeders encourage me to pair them just under 1500g (which is where they’re at now) because they’ll gain the rest by the time follicles develop. What are your thoughts on that?

Been working towards this for a few years now! DH Axanthic Pied x DH Axanthic Pied. First year for this girl and the eggs look good!

Unfortunately my container with vermiculite that was supposed to be in the incubator getting nice and warm was removed the other day by a certain misinformed husband...I removed the single egg and put it in the room temp container and popped it in the incubator. If it looks good tomorrow I’ll snag the rest from mom. For now she can keep them overnight 😂 there’s at least 4 I can see, but might be one or two others on the top of the coil. Anyone want to take bets on how many?

Oh shit did I never tell you guys I got a good lock from Verita and Wolfsbane, my dh Axanthic Pied pair? I know chances of visuals are slim but this is the start of a long project plan I have in mind and after waiting a few years to grow these guys up I’m so excited to start it!

Sorry for the bad quality, I didn’t want to disturb her. But I cannot for the life of me grasp why so much of the BP hobby thinks that climbing is a sign of stress. I just added this tree to her tub and the first thing she did was cruise up there to check it out, then settled in for the night.

Most of the community associates climbing with stress only if the ball python is often found climbing and active during the day.

If they climb and are active at night, that’s more than normal since they’re a Crepuscular/Nocturnal species. However, if they are extremely active during the day - then there may be something bothering them inside their enclosure.

Others might think climbing is an overall sign of stress because they probably think that the snake is looking for an exit for a particular reason, when it’s just actually exploring its enclosure.

Nocturnal snakes glass surfing and climbing during the day is a common issue at most pet stores that don’t properly care for them, so people tend to get the mentality that climbing is always bad because they’ve only seen it caused by bad circumstances

Just don’t let them climb too high or too close to any above heat source; since they aren’t arboreal or even considered semi arboreal, they tend to be a bit clumsy and can easily fall and hurt themselves.
