How do you think the Allies would deal with an s/o who has anxiety?Ā
psa: i combined several asks into one for this one + included canada. enjoy and be sure to take care of yourselves!Ā
America
Alfred, unfortunately, suffers from the toxic positivity mindset.
He cares about you, and of course, heāll try his best to help, but itāll be done in the only way possible, through either food or generic life advice. Thereās good intent there, but there might not be much utility in what heās doing.Ā
In his mind, the solution might just be to try to cheer you up, no matter the situation.Ā
Unless you tell him directly, he wonāt really know how to help. He cannot fathom a situation where his special brand of extreme positivity isnāt useful.Ā
What heās really good at is keeping your spirits up. His cheesy jokes and one-liners might serve as a good distraction if your anxiety gets to be too much.Ā
Canada:
He likely has mental health struggles of his own and would have the tools to work through them. This makes him really adept at helping you with your anxiety.
Being somewhat younger, he lacks the stigma around issues like this, and he wouldnāt be afraid to encourage you to go to therapy to work this stuff out with a professional
Mathew is a naturally calmer person. This means heād be a great support in times of stress, but might also be able to predict your anxiety attacks, considering how observant he is.
He would try his absolute best to alleviate any of your anxiety or restlessness, whether thatās through therapy exercises or just trying to make your surroundings as comfortable as possible.
Heās always willing to lend a listening ear or provide you with company.Ā
France
Heās someone whoās very attuned to his surroundings and would try to help you by physically calming you down.
Francis is a tactile person by nature and would offer to hold up or act as a weighted blanket for as long as you need. He may even try to organize a special place in his home for you to go if your anxiety gets to be too much.Ā
If you happen to have social anxiety, he would be great at helping you navigate social situations. Heās an expert at maneuvering through large crowds, and can gently steer you through conversations if you donāt have the bandwidth to do it on your own.
He has a nonchalant attitude about most things, but he can be serious when the situation calls for it. He may not look it sometimes, but heās attuned to your needs and knows when to advance and when to back off.
England
Arthur is as old-fashioned as they come, and this unfortunately extends to his understanding of things like anxiety.
His approach is to try to distract you through work in the hopes that youāll stop being anxious. In his mind, this is a perfect solution, but to most other people, this would not be helpful. At all.Ā
Despite his misgivings and general prickliness, he does care and would try to be more helpful after some careful redirection.Ā
Arthur is fantastic at dealing with bureaucracy. If your anxiety spikes when your workload is heavy, you could rest assured knowing he could handle most of your work for you.Ā
Heād be irate if anyone else asked him to make a few phone calls or fill out documents on their behalf, but for you, heāll do it with no complaints.
Russia
As soon as he senses something is off with you, heāll kick into protective mode.
Ivan is usually one to hover anyway, and if your anxiety is noticeably heightened, itāll only get worse.
Because heās already liable to smother you, youāll need to make your needs as clear as possible to him, or heāll just bulldoze right over you.
Ivan has likely had experience dealing with anxiety of his own. That gives him a general understanding of anxiety and may better equip him to help you should you need it. Despite this, heās more likely to suppress or ignore his own feelings, so you aren't likely to get any good advice on healthy coping mechanisms from him.
Heāll try his best to help you, though, no matter how flawed his methods are.
China:
Yao is a person you would want in your corner during times like these.Ā
Heās a āfixerā always willing to lend a helping hand or to complete tasks in your stead, but sometimes that can lean overbearing, especially when coupled with his trademark unsolicited advice.
At his core, he cares for you deeply, and his way of showing it is to hover over you. While sweet in theory, sometimes it may get to be too much.
Despite this, his advice is still top-notch. Heās lived through countless lifetimes and experienced more than most people can even conceptualize. This gives him a keen understanding of the human condition, one that he can use to help you through your low moments.
