Yes, that is accurate.
Okay, so people have said my nerd vs geek posts have been great, but that I left out two huge sub-cultures; the dorks and the dweebs. So here we are, a Venn Diagram with widely recognized definitions and names of middle grounds. Man, Iām such a neek. What are you? Reply to me and letās see how many of us are out there!
(written after posting) I just realized that there are two typos in here. āNweebā should be āNeebā and I used the wrong āthan/thenā in dweeb. It should say ādifferent THAN nerd, geek, or dork.ā
Do spazzes fit in there anywhere?
I guess spazzing is more of a quirk, not a type. Sorry, I just saw that comment. XD
Response accepted. If I could modify the 1st Ed. rules, I suppose that I am something of a Norky-Nweeb with Gerdish tendencies, and knowing that about myself empowers me⦠a little. Thank you for this gift.
Correction: it should read that I am a Norky-Neeb, not a Norky-Nweeb. Forgive me, but I am rather partial to the twenty-third letter of the alphabet.

HAHAHA PERF.
Anyway, you look at it, Evangeline Lilly is a badass.
this is a metaphor for my life
that poor fucking cat is so confused
That doesnāt look remotely like a cat
I don't know. It looks like every two-legged, winged cat I've ever seen... Of course, it's not a fucking cat! Shmersh!
Ronald Reagan, same asshole who didn't have a problem starting a "bloodbath" to quell protests in Berkeley.

I was going metaphorical at it, you didn't need to check the facts. My point is that phi-of-sci provides a meta-reflective level from which one can sensibly reason about science--as you yourself did by bringing up Kuhn. And, that kind of reasoning can be fed back to the world of science--as in Popper's criticism of Freud's paradigm. Not to mention Einstein, Heisenberg, Schrodinger, Bohr, and other great scientists' heavy engagement with phi-of-sci. It is not as irrelevant as you made it sound.
I agree ludimagister, and I was not pretending to make Philosophy of Science as an irrelevant issue, it is not! Just I point at they are different disciplines, mutually interacting, but that they are indeed different. I think also that is the sense of the Feynmanās argument, or at least thatās my interpretation.
Scienceisbeauty's point is valid. I've read articles written by creationists who have propped their bogus theories on the work of "scientists," who had PhDs in Phi-of-Sci rather than Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, etc. The first hand claims of experts in their discrete fields should be the basis of scientific theories, not the easily discredited hypotheses of religious apologists posing as scientists.

Confession of a Reformed Pirate
My wife tells a story from early in our relationship. We were at a 400+ annual party/event in Ohio, sitting at a table with friends of my wife. Bored, I poured an old lady's half-finished bottle of beer into my glass, setting the empty back in front of the stranger when she wasn't looking. My girlfriend (whom I eventually married) could not believe anyone would do anything so vile. In response, I said, "I am a pirate. That's what my people do." Since then, I've tried hard to change my ways. This old sea dog's days of plundering have most likely come to an endābut old habits die hardāand I love the sound of gold doubloons clinking inside a wooden chest. Avast, ye galleons flying the Royal Spanish banner best be steerin' clear of my harbor.
Our cat's new catchphrase, "What's a cat have to do to get some fresh water around here?" - heard every 15 minutes. #cathumor (at The Little Red House)

This praying mantis is possibly the smartest insect everācertainly smarter than any other I have metābut she is also very stupid because... she is an INSECT. I helped her get back outside so she could continue to observe her surroundings. #insect #insects #mantis (at The Little Red House)
Finished Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock Infinite turned out to be a big wrapped surprise for me. I felt seriously immersed in the universe, specially around the first bit of it. I got warned several times, I am going to go speechless and mindfucked.
All of this turned out to happen.
Consider playing this game sometime. Youāll ponder for days and days. This game is genius. A masterpiece.
Agreed.
Best game of 2013? Itās a tough call. For my money, only āThe Last of Usā is as good or better. Noted, āBioshock Infiniteā bends the mind and twists the heart, whereas most of the dramatic moments in āThe Last of Usā outweighed the oft Disney-esque dynamic between Booker and Elizabeth. (Consider the āPlay The Guitarā sequence in Shantytownās Graveyard Shift basement.)
