the discussion on how rory needs to be “called out” leaves such a bad taste in my mouth like I don’t know how the fandom latched onto the idea that she’s ungrateful or lacking self-awareness but it just… isn’t true? and any point where she does act “different,” like living with her grandparents, she both (a) is grateful when it’s deserved and (b) comes back around. are we forgetting the whole scene where she realizes that this life isn’t one she’s comfortable living? like how did everyone latch onto the idea that rory is just a spoiled rich girl who takes her privilege for granted and refuses to acknowledge it? her writing that article isn’t even an example because she wasn’t criticizing anyone that she is anywhere close to financially. these were millionaires like the huntzbergers. rory having someone to pay her tuition and having access to her grandparents’ wealth (in SOME situations – primarily tuition, because how often are they taking advantage of emily and richard’s money, really?) is in no way similar to the people she was criticizing. this myth that she’s somehow an ingrate or needs to be “told off” is inaccurate and honestly kind of… rude. she isn’t a child that needs to be “called out” or lectured on her behavior. what behavior are we even taking issue with? what horrible crime did she commit and never make amends for?
