Upcoming Exhibition: Scott Snibbe

June First Fridays: June 5th, 6-9pm 

Scott Snibbe (born 1969 in New York City) is an interactive media artist, researcher, and entrepreneur. He is one of the first artists to work with projector-based interactivity. Snibbe’s work has been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (California), The NTT InterCommunication Center (Tokyo), and the institute of Contemporary Arts (London).  He has collaborated with artists like Bjork, Phillip Glass, and Metric, and has received grants from the Rockefeller Foundation the National Endowment for the Arts and awards from the Stuttgart Trickfilm-Festival and the Prox Ars Electronica Festival.  He has taught media art, animation, and computer science at UC Berkely,  California Institute for the Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute.  Snibbe graduated with undergraduate and master's degrees in computer science and fine art from Brown University.

KOKOFREAKBEAN, alias of the Texan artist Michael Vasquez, has created videos for names like Dan Deacon, Adult Swim, and Funny or Die.  His glitch-core, lo-fi aesthetic is visually intense with a wild cacophony of graphic shapes. His content abstractly describes fractured childhoods, psychotic emotions, and spiritual tendencies.  Koko’s mind-frying color baths entice a wide demographic yet hearken to an EDM mentality.  Computer Jesus Refrigerator is Michael’s other alias.  Speaking in a language that has been described as a cross between Spanish, Swahili, and Sullustese, Koko plays keyboards, samplers, and drums in synch with digital error sounds.  He also creates wild, ritualistic costumes for the performances.
