Seasick goes to therapy.
I was enjoying myself, listening to the LA soundtrack, and then suddenly the fucking bagpipes from Hiccup Confronts Drago started blasting oh my goood.
They start off the track "Meeting the Queen" (I assume when the Red Death comes out to attack).
Good lord did it give me a startle lmfaooo
‘There he acknowledged the wild applause with solemn bows to the right and left, slightly spoiling his dignity with the odd “Cock-a-doodle-doo!” of smug self congratulation.’

"Indeed it is, that's why I want you to think it over. If you accept you'll have to sign a contract for 2 years. If you want to reenlist after that it can be discussed but there's not an easy way out after."
"Well... I suppose there aren't that many downsides, are there?"
"You also don't have to decide right this moment, dear," Seasick said. "Lila is just offering this to you. "And don't worry about what I think. I'm here to support you in whatever you decide."
"Hmm... If I complete the two years, but find I didn't like it, would I still be able to continue to live in the the Sovereign? Or what if I did like it, would I be able to return home for visits and events and such? What about doing some side jobs her on Peaceable? How much flexibility do I have here?"
She nods. "You will retain your citizenship in the Sovereignty as well as your residence. You are also free to sell it and move home if you prefer. You would have 6 weeks of the year for paid leave that you may use however you please, however while under contract you would not be able to accept side jobs unless it was on said leave."
"Hmm I see..." Oyarr replied, rubbing his chin in thought.
"Okay, so no side-gigs, that's not a big deal, sweetie," Seasick said, walking over to him and rubbing his shoulder. "I'm not trying to force you to take this job, but I really think it could be a great experience for you. You'd get to finally see a new part of the world! And meet new people! And help rebuilt a country!"
"How dangerous would you say this job would be, your Majesty?" Oyarr ask the new Queen.
"Fairly dangerous." She admits. "The navy will be an arm of the military, so despite our current peace, combat is to be expected, but you will be trained to defend yourself. We've been dealing with pirates lately which spurred this development on."
"Oh, I've dealt with pirates, that's not....terrible." Oyarr admitted.
"Wait, what?!? You have? When??" Seasick asked in horror.
"Just a handful of times, mostly in the neighboring islands." He replied. "And it's not like I'd be alone in this, I'll have my fellow crew right? And training, so I should be prepared."
After a brief pause, he asked "So, when would I start this job?"
"As soon as you sign the contract." She says with a smile. "Take a few days, get things in order, and I'll send someone to collect you."
"Well, I guess it's settled then." Oyarr replied, returning a toothy smile.
Seasick smiled at her son, with a hint of sadness in her eyes. "As long as you're safe, Oyarr. Make good choices, and don't forget to write. And follow the Queen's orders."
"I'll take my leave then. Oyarr if you have any questions, please write them down and we can discuss them when you come to sign your contract."
"Understood, your Majesty." Oyarr replied, bowing his head to Lila. "I'll be sure to have any and all questions ready. I look forward to this experience."
"Thank you, Lila. It was lovely seeing you again. I'm sure my son will be a great help to you and your kingdom." Seasick said.

"Does he have combat experience?" She asks curiously. It wasn't necessarily a deal breaker but it was something she had to consider when making this appointment.
"If you consider fist-fighting the local village boys who look at his sisters wrong 'combat'..." chuckled Seasick. "He has a bit of training, I taught him some basic sword techniques and defenses. He's a quick learner, so if he wanted to be take up this opportunity, I can't imagine him saying no to training."
"What about ship combat? I don't suppose he has any experience there? Or a strategic mind?" She asks. "I do not mean to poke at your son but I'm not talking about being the captain of a single ship. I'm talking about leading the entire Navy, whatever size it becomes. I need to make sure it's something he's suited for."
"No, I wouldn't say he has ship combat." Seasick replied. "He knows how to navigate storms and rough waters and such, but I don't believe he's ever had to deal with actual combat. It's pretty peaceful around this parts, no pun intended."
"Perhaps he isn't quite suited for this...but if I ask around the harbour, there may be more experienced men who could do the job you're asking. You could take Oyarr along with you as a learning member of your navy."
"Well the ships will certainly need a crew and there is definitely room for upwards mobility. He could work his way up."
"Would you like to speak to him yourself? He's probably at the harbour." Seasick replied. "I can't make this decision for him, he is old enough now to answer for himself."
"It would seem the best course of action." She chuckles. "Thank you for taking the time to speak with me."
Taking the lead, Seasick led Lila down a winding dirt path towards the harbor.
As usual, it was bustling with sailors and traders, coming and going. Seasick took Lila's hand as they moved through the crowd and finally came upon a small ship, and there stood Oyarr on the dock.
"There you are dear," Seasick called out to her second eldest son. "I have someone here who would like to meet you. She has an opportunity for you."
She smiled as Seasick led her by the hand. It had been some time since someone had done that. It made her feel like a child again, in a good way. It made her feel connected to this woman she hadn't seen in so long.
As they came to a stop she composed herself, straightening up and holding out a hand for him to take.
"Lila Ericson, Queen of the Phoenix sovereignty." She introduced.
Oyarr's eyes nearly popped out of his head. He quickly jumped to attention and then did a low bow.
"Oh Gods..um hello, your Majesty...what, uh what brings you here?" He asked rather awkwardly, while looking up from his bow. Seasick let out a chuckle and took a step back from her son and Lila.
Lila chuckles as well. "Your mother tells me you're something of a navigator."
"Uh, yeah, I guess you could say that." Oyarr replied, slowly straightening back up. "I mean, well, yeah, I know how to sail the seas and such. Is there somethin' you need help with? Aren't you a bit...far from home to be asking me this?"
"I'm building a navy and I need qualified crewmen. Your mother is apparently too old for the prospect." She joked. "But she pointed me towards you."
"Aw, Ma, I'm touched you thought of me!" Oyarr laughed, glancing at Seasick. "Well, I suppose I'd be up for the task, but what exactly would I be doing? And is this a long term or short term kind of thing?"
"It's long term." She replies. "We're talking about a new career path for you. You'd be serving as a navigator on one of our ships. You'd be granted citizenship in the Sovereignty, given a home, good pay, and further training in your craft."
Oyarr's mouth dropped open, and then closed. Several times before regaining his composure. "I... I don't know what to say...that's so....that's a LOT of responsibility..." He ran a hand through his messy brown hair and laughed. "And Ma, you're okay with this whole thing? I can't just leave you and our family. Who'd look after everyone?"
"Well dear, as your mother, that is my job." Seasick replied to her son. "I want what's best for you, and I do think you're old enough and skilled enough for such a job. Besides, the Phoenix Sovereignty is still very young, you'd be helping built the navy from the ground up. Queen Lila is offering you quite the opportunity."
