I am on the other half and that has a simple reason. You can't choose your family and therefor you might not come across people that you can trust. For example - your parents will go through all the shit, while your aunts and uncles maybe won't and that's something you don't need in a fight. Loyality is something you can buy, that's the biggest issue I see with sticking to the ones that are loyal to you. But! Loyal people decided to stay with you and you can choose the ones loyal to you, meaning that you have trust in every of their actions.

Loyality over blood.
