I’m 31+. There may be some very graphic content, that will all be tagged to the best of my abilities. If I didn’t tag something, just tell me.

There will sometimes be smut, (and I'll tag it as tw: nsft, or just nsft). I have no triggers, but if any of you do - just tell me, and I will try to remember / tag everything that I can!

I’ve decided to make Cloud AFAB/Transmasc, and uses he/him pronouns. And since this is a world that uses magic, perhaps Cloud was able to heal the scars from his chest surgery.

Cloud stared him down, trying to stamp down the rising bout of anxiety that always came about whenever he encountered the terror from his dreams. In fact, it was difficult to even look at him for too long, and he wasn't sure if this was fear or defiance. He always wondered if he was hallucinating, asleep, or the real Sephiroth was standing here before him. Tight was the grip on his sword's hilt, and the massive bulk of blade was pointed downward, temporarily too tired to lift it; gathering his strength for the inevitable attack.

“Come in,” Genesis called out, not bothering to rise from the luxurious armchair he was seated in with crossed legs and a riveting book in his hand.

Homo Universalis – The Ponderings of Cyrus Livius Epiphanius was the title inscribed on the tome in imposing Old Junon cursive.

There was no need for him to rise to his full height and adopt the bearings and speech patterns of a drill sergeant to exude authority, not when his poised nonchalance and sharp silver tongue reminded his subordinates of their place beneath him at least as effectively, if not more so.

When the fresh-faced infantryman stepped into the room, Genesis thus fixed him with a pointed gaze and motioned for him to state his purpose pro forma.

Prior to his departure from Shinra Headquarters, Lazard had briefed him about what their joint mission entailed for each participant. Nevertheless, Genesis wanted to hear the words from the young captain directly, so as to gauge if he understood what was expected of him or if he was one of those brainless oafs who needed to have every minuscule detail of their task spelled out to them.

This one, at least at first impression, appeared to be sufficiently professional as well as determined to deliver a satisfactory performance along with the rest of his unit.

“At ease, Cloud,” Genesis finally stated with a curt nod before dryly remarking, “Requested, huh? That’s a generous assessment of the old brute’s cadence and, ah, effortless charisma. However, do keep that up in front of the cameras later on. You’ve been informed of those, too, yes? Of the quaint little play we’re meant to perform?”

And he arched his sophisticated brows.

“It goes without saying that you and your men are expected to be at your best, most genteel behavior. Hence it is best you tell me now if you require additional pointers.“

Once he was allowed to relax, his shoulders sagged only somewhat to not be as tense and considered those words with all of the importance they needed. "Of course, sir. I expect my troops will be at their best, certainly as I trained them to be."

Cloud was almost hesitant to speak, which was a strange new feeling for him to be experiencing within this rank. Normally, he could speak with those higher than him with relative ease, but there was something about getting to truly talk with one who he had only heard stories of was slightly leaving him starstruck. Though, he managed to keep his cool and try to mask all of that with a determined expression.

"As far as I know, we may not require any pointers, sir. Though, I am not ever opposed to take any criticism. After all, none of them have ever seen any real combat - just simulations." It was embarrassing to really admit that, but there hadn't been any time to get his squadron out there on the field, and even himself he was still so green to it. "Only I've ever been on recon a handful of times... nothing more than that. Still, according to General Heidegger, we've excelled in every other task and thinks it is time... If you would take us, sir."
