idk i feel the fact of the matter is the future for monkey wrench is either 1a) continues licensing w netflix and gets additional funding via ppl moving to their patreon thru it

1b) netflix exclusivity, which means the fandom no longer needs to provide financial support

or

2a) basically nothing changes and this doesn't work and/or the financial boost is negligible

2b) animation production has to slow to a halt and other options must be considered, the path we are already on as financially the show has stagnated.

i dont trust netflix but i also feel like to pretend zeurel and tito aren't aware of this is being disingenuous. however we are at an impasse of monkey wrench having to cease production as we know it or take this risk. this decision was not taken to spite anyone who supports this show. being disappointed is fine, i think that is a completely acceptable thing to feel. i do not 100% love the idea of exclusivity either. but reality of the indie scene is... indie cant save the industry. look at gaming; for every airdorf or toby fox or even paralives, hundreds of games fall through the cracks and fail. not for lack of effort or artistic integrity but because that's just how it goes. there are not enough eyes and wallets to save every indie creative endeavor.

the original intent of the youtube indie pilot that started this entire movement was, in fact, to be picked up by a studio. now- i didnt love this at the time and i dont think it was to that series' benefit, to be clear, but that was what it was about. and it did work incredibly well for them. it's great for some youtube+patreon+merch can provide the financial windfall to not even need a studio; but this is not the reality for a lot of productions. i would say monkey wrench is a decently popular animated series on youtube, but just look at the chasm between it and glitch prod shows. and there are many other series behind monkey wrench in all areas.

i cannot stop anyone from feeling however they want to feel about this. i have lots of feelings about it. but, idk, i think we need to be realistic. it feels good to be the scrappy underdogs, but at the end of the day... i would like monkey wrench to keep going and to be able to be the story zeurel and tito want to tell. and i can look at the finances, the patreon, the youtube numbers, and say.... unfortunately, yes, i think they are correct to take this major leap.

I'm adding onto this by saying that it's OK to dislike an animal! It's OK to say that an animal scares you or that you generally do not like being around them!! What ISN'T ok is trying to justify your hatred towards them by claiming they are some kind of mass murdering evil super villain that should go extinct because of their natural behaviour or appearance, because if you do that you are an asshole and i think you should educate yourself

hi i just want everyone to know that i will never ever EVER be angry with anyone for not replying to my texts even though you’re visibly online and reblogging/posting. i understand that holding a conversation takes a lot more energy and effort than scrolling and posting and that’s 100% okay. take care of yourself first. the whole idea that you HAVE to reply to someone when you’re online is toxic and makes mentally ill people feel as though they are bad friends just because they can’t always reply within minutes.
