NOTE: I took a TON of liberties with Older Ninten’s design. But also, Ninten was 12 in the games, but is 19 in this comic. He’s grown. He’s going to look different. And I wanted my version of him to reflect that change.

People are starting to follow this blog, so I guess it’s time to do a little write-up about this comic.

This is a post-canon Au, taking place after the events of Mother 3. In this world, Lucas pulled the needles, passed his heart onto the dragon, and created a new world. But part of what was in his heart was tiredness. Tired of being the hero, being relied upon, being nearly alone in his burden. Thus, the Dark Dragon not only revived Claus to help heal the loneliness, but also brought back the Old Heroes (the protagonists from Mother 1 and 2) as well as their friends and family.

Three years have passed since the pulling of the needle, and the new world has mostly been rebuilt. A lot of the early comics will be more slice-of-life or gag style to introduce the characters and show off their personalities, how they have or haven’t changed, and to establish inter-game relationships that will be important for later comics. The main plot of this comic will revolve around Claus, Lucas, Lloyd, Ness, and Ninten. Page 2 is kind of the first “plot” page and basically poses the main question of the comic series.

I’ve been working on this au for a while now, and I’m really excited about it! It’s my first time taking on such a big project, but I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to get this to a finish. I can’t give an estimate for length right now; I may want to do side arcs for characters I didn’t list earlier like Paula and Duster, I may add more slice-of-life pages just to play around with the characters more, and there are quite a few concepts in the main story I’d love to try if I feel I can pull them off well when the time comes.

I hope you guys enjoy the little world I’m creating! I’m always open for questions about tidbits of this au!
