The Valentine Sisters(Hogwarts Legacy AU)
Before Hogwarts, the Valentine Family lived on a small farm along the Irish countryside, where life was simple, peaceful, and entirely non-magical...or so it would seem
For generations, the Dupont family carried stories of an ancestor known only as "The Green Lady," a woman who was said to predict storms, heal sick animals, and make flowers bloom out of season. Most dismissed her as a family legend. Charlotte Dupont grew up hearing the stories from her grandmother but never truly believed them.
But when she got married to Liam Valentine and gave birth to their firstborn daughter, things slowly changed
it so slow infact, two years passed after her birth, and no strange occurrences happened. Well, except for the birth of their second daughter, Amorette. Though none would exactly call that strange.
What was strange was that as soon as their toddler met her baby sister, odd things began. At first, it was dismissible, things that could be explained away as a coincidence or a mishap. Amorette would throw or break a toy beyond repair and then begin wailing when she couldn't play with it again.
Roxanne would then pick up the toy and hand it to her baby sister. When Charlotte went to take the broken toy back so the baby didn't hurt herself, she would find the toy completely intact again.
Charlotte brought it up to Liam, but it was brushed off like many things.
They didn't happen that often, but when they did, Charlotte would begin to think of the old tales her grandmother used to tell her, but would shake off the thought. Then, when Penelope was born, just 3 years after Amorette was born and Roxanne was 5, they only increased in not only frequency but also extremity. They could no longer ignore it. Birds followed Roxanne through the fields. During one particularly fierce argument between neighboring farmers, every window in the barn shattered simultaneously.
And soon it wasn't just Roxanne, but unlike her fiery older sister, Amorette's magic manifested quietly. Flowers bloomed wherever she spent time. Injured animals sought her out. Once, after finding an abandoned robin chick during a rainstorm, she held it through the night. By morning, the bird had recovered completely despite seeming unlikely to survive.
Before long, it was no surprise for unexplained occurrences to happen, especially as all 3 girls grew. For Penelope, her magic came a little later in life than her sisters, but it was just as loud when it did. Paintbrushes moved on their own around the youngest daughter. Colors shifted unexpectedly. Sketches seemed to change positions when nobody was looking.
The girls grew into their personalities beautifully, despite some resistance in their home community; the girls had each other. in their younger years, Roxanne and Amorette would run around and get dirty outside playing. Amorette was very much a tomboy, even going by Rett when playing, because little Penelope couldn't pronounce Amorette yet.
Roxanne quickly found a love for music, something that poked its head out when she was small, but grew like wildfire when her father taught her how to play his old guitar. She was often humming around the house and took advantage of the rolling hills surrounding the countryside to be as loud as she pleased
Penelope had always been the artist in the family. She would draw with whatever she could get her hands on before she could even walk. It wasn't long before her parents gave up on washing the walls in her bedroom, and as she got older, the murals grew in detail and beauty.
Life found a rhythm in the chaotic household that was the Valentine family. They no longer paid much attention to the odd happenings in the household and learned to live around them peacefully, as peacefully as they could, despite the more extreme incidents.
It all changed when Roxanne turned 11. That's when the letter arrived. At first, Charlotte and Liam thought it was a joke, a prank played by horrid neighbors. As the girls grew up, the odd occurrences weren't just noticed by the Valentine household.
Neighboring families noticed as well, and the girls were ostracized for being different. Parents forbade their children from playing with the wicked Valentine girls and even harassed the family in public. So the letter was initially seen as no different
Until a representative from Hogwarts arrived to explain that Roxanne was a witch.
The discovery stunned the family but only briefly. Charlotte felt almost relieved to know that her daughters weren't so different, at least in the eyes of their peers, and to finally have some proper answers. Further investigation by the Ministry revealed traces of magical ancestry deep within Charlotte's family tree. The magical bloodline had simply lain dormant for many generations before reawakening.
The old bedtime stories from Charlotte's childhood had come to life.
When Roxanne departed for Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor, she became the first known witch in the family for nearly two centuries
Two years later, Amorette followed. Though only after crying to her mother, she feared that she was not a witch like her big sister, despite all that had happened around her. She believed that Roxanne's magic had been loud, and therefore, since hers was not, it wouldn't be enough to follow her sister.
Unlike Roxanne, who marched confidently onto the Hogwarts Express ready for adventure, Amorette spent most of the journey worrying whether she belonged there at all. She believed her magic was weaker than her peers and feared having no friends like they did at home, but quickly found her home in Hufflepuff.
With both her big sisters away so often, Penelope was more than excited when she finally received her letter. She had heard so many stories about Hogwarts and the classes through the years.
Often stealing her sister's old schoolwork and textbooks to look through. She especially liked the way magic seemed to bring her art alive and was determined to learn all she could, only to turn it around for her own purposes. She always said, " You must learn the rules to break them properly," when referring to magic
It was no surprise to those who knew her when she was sorted into Ravenclaw, though unlike her extroverted eldest sister and her inherently nurturing older sister, Penelope found herself with a much smaller social group. She preferred it this way as it gave her time to focus on other things, like her studies or her art.
And somehow, despite being completely different people, the sisters remain fiercely loyal to one another.
A common saying among students becomes: "If you find one Valentine, the other two can't be far behind."
