“Wel-Cum” to International Female Orgasm Day
A big Obrigada (thank you) to Espertina, Brazil and Councillor Arimateio Dantas who actually passes a law and coined the “holiday” in 2006. He wanted to compensate his wife for some “long overdue sexual debts” and encourage men to satisfy their wives.
Everyday is International Female Orgasm Day in my book, but I love that this day helps to raise awareness of female sexuality that to often we’ve been denied the right to openly discuss sex and explore our bodies.
Did you know that one in three women do not orgasm during penetrative intercourse and most women require clitoral stimulation to climax.
A study by wellness company Goop found that 72% of women feel like they should have sex more and 67% of women wish they orgasmed more.
Other studies have shown that up to 15% of women have never experienced an orgasm despite being sexually active for many years.
The most powerful sexual organ is actually your brain! There are so many sides to sexual activity- chemical, physical, emotional, psychological, social and multi-sensory. And they all happen in the brain. This is probably why I’ve always heard “women need to get out of their heads” to be able to let all these things happen and us be able to enjoy sex and reach an orgasm.
Today is a day of celebration and awareness!
So get out of your head, educate, celebrate and appreciate all the joys of the female orgasm!!!
