█ ▌ ▐⌠☁⌡MISCELLANEOUS HEADCANONS DROP ( serious & silly…some of them will   be elaborated on whenever I feel like it ).

It’s no secret that waffles are Raven’s Forever Girl™, but virtually the same can be said about all other breakfast foods ( waffles stay her ride or die, though ). If a restaurant has an all-day breakfast menu, then there’s a 90% chance she’s ordering something off that and not a $35 rib eye steak. 

English is Raven’s third language. Her first is Azarathian, and her second is Hindi.

With that being said, linguistics / languages are Raven’s second Forever Girl™. Despite being someone of few words, she has a true affinity for this field of study, whether it be learning how to speak / read / write in different languages or understanding their structure / phonetics / semantics. 

At the moment, Raven’s fluent in speaking, reading, and writing ten languages ( Azarathian, Hindi, English, German, Latin, Romanian, Ancient Sumerian, Sanskrit, Mandarin Chinese, and Arabic ), and she’s currently studying Tibetan, French, and Spanish.

Her Tibetan accent is practically natural-sounding, and her French accent is solid, BUT her Spanish accent is the literal worst. She’s working on it, though—slowly but surely.

‘ Self-sufficiency ‘ is lowkey Raven’s middle name, and her inclination to self-reliance / refusal to ask others for help is even prominent in day-to-day or less ‘ crucial ‘ tasks ( cutting her own hair instead of going to a hair stylist, threading her own brows instead of going to a salon, doing research on how to repair x / y / z instead of asking Cyborg for assistance, etc. ).

Raven rarely ever gets a ‘ good night’s rest ‘ ( her average is approximately 2-4 hours a night ), but whenever she does, it’s easy to tell because she’ll smile in her sleep.

Whenever she first arrived on Earth, and up to forming the Teen Titans with her teammates, Raven would keep journals detailing her days as well as notes on ‘ adjusting ‘ to Earth ( e.g. Earth culture, differences in lifestyles between Earth people and Azarathians, etc. ).

Unfortunately, these journals are long gone, and Raven has very little evidence that they ever existed in the first place.

Speaking of journals, Raven is not only heavy on reading, but she also enjoys writing to a fault; ‘ depressing poetry ‘ and poetry in general are her go-to’s.

Instead of filling out birthday cards to loved ones, Raven opts for writing them long, strangely sentimental letters…call her old-fashioned, but she finds that she’s a lot better at expressing herself / being sincere in those than through Hallmark or spoken words.

Raven is ambidextrous, but she prefers to use her left hand as her dominant hand.

As I’ve stated before, Raven is a Dancing Queen™!! Dancing is her third Forever Girl™, and it’s one of the pastimes she partakes in the most, though in the privacy of her bedroom, of course…this, tragically enough, means that you are extremely unlikely to ever catch her dancing and that, by the same token, she may also never tell you that she’s into it. There are exactly two ( 2 ) people who know of Raven as a dancer, and well…let’s just say she plans to keep it that way.

Homegirl’s Spotify is cluttered with playlists. She may as well as have a playlist for everything, and they range from an exercise / training playlist ( ‘ The grind doesn’t stop or whatever. ‘ ) to a crushes playlist ( ‘ I’ll get over it eventually. :((( ‘ ) to the very secret, very coveted ‘ turn up ‘ playlist ( ‘ Cyborg is a terrible influence. ‘ ).

█ ▌ ▐⌠☁⌡PERSONALITY HEADCANON: SPONTANEITY?? IN THIS ECONOMY??

because raven knew from a very young age that she’s prophesied to end the world in the future, she’s spent a majority of her life stuck with tunnel vision—either dreading or attempting to prepare for this terrible thing she’s destined to do—only to miss out on all the beautiful things that life has to offer in the present tense / by living in the moment. 

she’s so terrible at being spontaneous and understanding the value of memories and things and people in the ‘ now ‘ because she’s so caught up in their presence / how important they will be to her in the long-run…and judging by her role in the prophecy, this ‘ presence ‘ and ‘ importance ‘ amounts to almost nothing because she expects that they too will perish along with all that she’s meant to destroy.

this is why it’s necessary that she meets people who will help her understand that it’s okay to take life at face value sometimes—that every now and then, it’s okay to live in the spur of the moment without ( over )thinking future implications!! this isn’t to say that raven isn’t capable of laughing and smiling and having fun all on her own ( she’ll always bounce back to reading and writing and the like because those interests are inherent to her ‘ introverted ‘ disposition ), but for her to step out of her comfort zone and experience the world WITHOUT fear of future implications or any similar ‘ restraints ‘ holding her back is a different story.

so, uh, you want more of my reasons for why she stays so detached from other people?? why she’s reluctant to form profound relationships with / show attachment to them despite being an empath?? there you have it!!

█ ▌ ▐⌠☁⌡VERY TINY PERSONALITY HEADCANON: WORDS, WORDS, WORDS.

one very surefire way to gauge raven’s comfort level with a person is her loquacity around them. in other words, if she’s able to constantly play an active role in your conversations, then chances are, she likes you.

as many of you know, raven is a person of few words, and alongside that, she prefers to play ‘ listener ‘ in her interactions with people or, at the very least, center the conversation around them. part of this is due to her being an empath, so she’ll naturally want to accommodate whoever she’s talking to, and the other part is more based on her private nature; unless directly asked / the topic is pressing enough, she’ll want to keep her thoughts to herself…

…so, actually getting raven to engage with you is a very big deal, whether it be enabling her to  talk about the book she’s currently reading or fish for an elaborate opinion about something or, in rare cases, allow her to rant and say what’s actually on her mind / express herself to you. if you’re fortunate enough to have this type of relationship with her, then you’ll also see that she’s actually a very pleasant, even fun, person to talk to. expect a lot of long, profound conversations, and if not that, then heaps of flat-out snark / banter you might have a hard time digging out of anyone else!!

you take away everybody else’s pain, but who takes away yours?

raven’s empathy ( a very, very, VERY ‘ bare bones ‘ premise as to how it operates on a subconscious level can be found here ) is, without a doubt, one of her most defining and fundamental abilities; not only does it allow her to instinctively ‘ sense ‘ other people’s emotions, but it also serves as the ‘ gateway ‘ to some of her other powers, including her healing abilities.

█ ▌ ▐⌠☁⌡SKILLSET / HOBBIES HEADCANON.

Not only does Raven LOVE dancing, but she’s also really good at it.

Her passion for dancing primarily links back to her Indian and Middle Eastern heritages ( though moreover the former in this case ) and her desire to further invest in their respective cultures. When she was still living in Azarath, Raven took it upon herself to learn dancing. Once again, her decision to do so was mostly due to cultural merit, but at the time, she also felt that investing in dancing would aid her in further understanding Azar’s teachings ( empathic healing, meditation…most of his lessons dealt with attunement to one’s mind, body, and soul, so naturally, dancing could be included in that ) as well as establishing her own peace of mind.

The dances that Raven are most familiar with denote to classical and tribal Indian dances—such as Bharatanatyam, Odissi, and countless others—but she’s also taken a liking to traditional Polynesian dances, tango, waltz, and more ‘ modernized ‘ dancing, such as Bollywood and KPop dancing. In reality, she’s willing to invest in any form of dancing regardless of her original reasons for wanting to because she enjoys it so much.

However, note that dancing is more of a ‘ self-investment ‘ for Raven, and very rarely will she ever dance in public. This is mostly due to her dispositional aversion to ‘ coming out of her shell ‘, so chances are, you’ll only be able to watch her dance or dance with her if you’re good friends or dating or what have you. Don’t expect her to willingly go clubbing and vigorously shake her hips in a sweaty room full of strangers.

“ well. ” raven spends a moment regaining her bearings. she smooths down her cloak and adjusts the fit of her hood. “ i guess it doesn’t matter. we’re past the point of no return. ” lifting a hand and drawing it near her chest, she marvels at how wildly her heart thump, thump, thumped.

“ do pranks always make you feel this ... tingly? ” obviously, it’s called adrenaline. “ i feel nauseous. ”
