MY TOMMY HILFIGER THRIFT STORE FIND

I've always been a fan of wearing affordable clothes, believing that style isn't defined by the cost of a person’s clothing. I usually thrift shop twice a month hoping that I’ll find a few pieces that stand out. About a year ago I found an authentic Tommy Hilfiger jacket at Savers, which only cost me $12.00. The average men's Tommy Hilfiger jacket cost around $200.00, which led me to buy this with no questions asked.  Thrift shopping is either a hit or a miss but I definitely recommend it, if you’re not above wearing thrift store clothes. Majority of the time the clothes are donated but there is a small chance that you will come across a dope piece with original tags on it.

I paired the jacket with a red PESOSX cap, a yellow H&M sweater and customized jeans. I knew when I decided to wear this jacket; I wanted to incorporate color to compliment the detail and color scheme. This fit was chill and comfortable; great for a Sunday afternoon.

MY COME UP WITH A BLUE SATIN BOMBER

For the past two years I’ve looked for a blue bomber jacket and finally came across one at H&M, while shopping for a birthday outfit.  Once I found this jacket, I decided to incorporate it into my birthday outfit. The jacket features a small stand-up collar, Zip at front, side pockets, and ribbed cuffs and hem. I dressed it up by pairing it with Blue H&M dress pants and maroon Christian Louboutin dress shoes, creating my first blue on blue look. To complete the look I opted for a white t-shirt and grey striped socks. I tucked in the t-shirt to streamline the fit and cropped the pants to show the detail in the sock.

Here is a preview of the jacket dressed down. I paired the jacket with a PESOSX dad hat, a distressed Urban Outfitters hoodie, black jeans and custom gold huaraches.

OVERCOAT X A YAMBO TWIN

Fall weather is here and its officially coat season for me. There’s nothing like layering up and enhancing your outfit with a dope ass coat. I’ve literally looked for an overcoat for the past two months and had absolutely no luck. I went thrift shopping and even checked my go to store H&M. I kept coming across coats that looked crazy as hell or didn’t have the right fit. I have never been a fan of shopping at high-end stores like Barneys, Nordstrom or Sacks Fifth Avenue but Nordstrom was the winner. I found a light brown Topman overcoat at an affordable price. 

I put this fit together for an event I attended in Connecticut. I paired my Topman coat with an H&M long sleeve button up shirt, ASOS cropped pants, and Christian Louboutin dress shoes.

A LITTLE MORE THAN CROPPED

For the past 3 years I’ve purchased my pants not only slim fit but cropped as well. It’s a choice that will not only change the appearance of a pair of pants but can dramatically change the appearance of an entire outfit. When I first broke into the fashion world and started researching designers and paying attention to trends, I came across women’s fashion designer Thom Browne who set the trend and established the rules of what he would call “ cropped trousers.”  The rules are to make sure they aren’t any higher than mid-shin and they should fall an inch above the ankle. 

As usual I decided to go against the rules and I went a little higher.  This look was put together due to pure boredom and coming across a pair of old pants I just wanted to get rid of.  I decided to cut these pants shorter to give the look a bit more edge.

I paired my custom cropped H&M pants with a Calvin Klein turtleneck, David Beckham H&M bomber jacket, Nike Huaraches and Nike athletic socks.

JENNER INSPIRED DISTRESSED T-SHIRT

I have always had a liking for distressed clothes, way before Kanye West re-introduced the look to mainstream fashion. Although, I've always been a fan of distressed clothes, I was never fan of the recent trend of t-shirts with tiny rips and or fake burns in them (example provided on right). I always felt that the little holes weren't necessary; they did and do absolutely nothing for me. Recently a distressed t- shirt that Kylie Jenner wore inspired me. The rips are dramatic which automatically caught my eye. When I think of a distressed t-shirt that is exactly what I imagine, not a t-shirt with tiny rips perfectly placed. I was inspired to the point that I cut a week old shirt with kitchen scissors but I made it work. I recommend that if your going to buy a t-shirt that is already distressed make sure it looks distressed and not like you accidentally ripped it or dropped a cigarette an burned your shirt. 

The deep V-neck cut is perfect for a summer day and if the temperature drops you can make it work by adding a jacket. I decided to add a custom @demurete denim jacket for the night out. I paired my custom distressed Urban Outfitters long t-shirt with H&M distressed jeans and my custom gold Timberland boots. If you have the time buy a cheap t-shirt and have fun by distressing it yourself.

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH ADDING A LITTLE DETAIL TO YOUR DENIM

There was a time when jeans with added details such as rein stones and patches were the must have item, especially in urban and hip-hop culture. In the past five years, embellished jeans have strayed away from your everyday store like Macy’s.  In Spring 2016, embellished denim including jeans and jackets hit the runways and magazines with no remorse. Celebrities like Rihanna, June Ambrose and Rita Ora have all been spotted in embellished denim making the trend more relevant then ever. This is a a trend that is officially back and will stay relevant through Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. 

I opted for a pair of Levi jeans that were customized by De'Muerte (@demuerteusa), which was inspired by a local CT designer Georgina. I'm a fan of the added patchwork and the bold white lettering. I've always been a simple guy and appreciate how these jeans have style and character but remain simple. 

I paired my embellished jeans with a band-collar shirt, Saucony sneakers and a customized De'Muerte denim jacket. I'm looking forward to the  filling my closet with some embellished denim.

FLORAL AND CHILL ASS SUMMER VIBES

As some of you may have noticed, when the summer came around I stopped posting as much and the reason why is because I dislike getting dressed in the summer. Fortunately, I had an event that called for some floral and chill ass summer vibes.   

This past weekend I attended a Snoop Dog and Wiz Khalifa concert in Hartford Connecticut and I had no choice but to channel my guy Wiz. I’ve always been a fan of his style plus we have similar body types, we’re both tall and skinny as hell.

For this look I opted for an H&M floral top, H&M skinny jeans and H&M accessories. I really hate wearing all H&M but I wanted to keep it affordable, simple and to the point.  I know my fellow creatives are cringing right now but where else would I go and buy a shirt that is decent and if someone spilt a drink on it I could care less?  I originally wanted to wear sneakers but decided to pair the look with brown chelsea boots because I knew there was no guarantee I was leaving that concert clean.

By the way the concert was lit!!

Two years ago I was shopping at Topman in NYC and found a Plaid slim fit men’s suit that gave me no other choice but to buy it. Once I wore the suit to a fashion show I knew I would never wear the suit again because it was just too bold to repeat. I purchased the suit for a little over $400.00O and figured it would be a complete waist of money if I never wore it again, so I deiced to sell the jacket and keep the pants one week after I purchased it.

Two years later during one of my closet reorganizations, I decided that I wanted to where these plaid pants but I knew the rest of the outfit needed to be simple and to the point.  To keep it simple I paired my Topman plaid pants with a white Urban Natured Clothing tank and a pair of green and white Saucony sneakers.

MY LOVE FOR GOLD SHOES

Since 2013 I’ve had this weird love for spray-painting all my old shoes gold.  The first time I ever experimented with gold spray paint, I spray-painted a pair of all black combat boots gold attempting to be creative and almost died laughing at myself.

I had an old pair of timberlands in my closet and decided to experiment one more time and It was love at first sight when I was done.

Last year after buying a pair of Nike Huaraches I decided to wear them to Miami during Memorial Day weekend and they were immediately destroyed. The first thing I did when I got back home was spray-paint my huaraches gold and they were brand new again. 

I’m sure you get the point that I love spray painting my old shoes gold but there’s levels to this. Every shoe doesn’t look good gold and you can only spray paint certain materials. I suggest staying away from shoes that are leather, as the paint will immediately crack after drying. 

For this outfit I opted for a thrifted army fatique jacket, H&M long tee, H&M distressed jeans and custom gold Adidas Super Stars.

FINISHING UP THE FALL WITH SIMPLICITY AND COLOR

On Sunday night I attended the #XTTW7 annual fashion show in Connecticut, which is produced by celebrity stylist Ricky Trendy. So far I’ve attended four of his shows and each year I decided to go with a slim fit suit.

This time around I wanted to be more comfortable and simple. I opted for a Calvin Klein trench coat, H&M turtleneck, H&M slim fit dress pants, and Christian Louboutins dress shoes. I wanted to keep the color scheme dark and just let the shoes finish off the look. With this look I even decided to go without a belt, I thought it would be too much.

 I'm sort of pissed that spring is here and the warm weather is approaching because I was digging my turtlenecks this past fall and winter. You could pair a turtleneck with almost any style pants an make it work.
