On our way to Kefalonia island 🫶🏼 We were in Ithaca last night, and had the most amazing meal of local food. There’s photos on my camera but I haven’t put them on my phone yet.
I’ve been at the pharmacy this morning for antihistamines for the bites from the self-proclaimed mosquito attack the other night. I counted 39 bites on my legs and 1 on my arm. So tired of being a mosquito magnet 😮💨 Pic for the freakishly curious.

A mosquito got into my cabin and bit me like 23931 times in the space of less than an hour. My body is covered in bumps of itchy bites. I frantically swattered the air whenever I could see it and I hope to god I killed it.
Made it safely to Greece and I’m safely on board the boat! 🇬🇷✨
Some things that happened on my adventure:
- dealt with a morning wardrobe malfunction of my favourite pair of trousers, left behind and will deal with on my return.
- bumped into my big boss and his family out in the wild going through security
- bought national geographic for the first time and almost lost it as I left it in spoons.
- very empty plane! Got 3 seats to myself!
- downloaded loads of casefile episodes but kept falling asleep so had to wind it back 3 times. Also woken up and frightened by a Boards of Canada track, which checks out because it’s weird music.
- flight went v fast because I was asleep the whole way.
- arrived and took a taxi to the village my parents were staying in and reunited with them after two months!
- off to Lefkaka island tonight to eat seafood and watch the match later with a quivering English dad.
I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friend’s parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friend’s parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.
Tell me how your parents met in the tags.
so many women are worried about aging and making sure they don’t sag or have wrinkles when you should be worried about making sure you’re becoming an outrageous woman who walks into the kitchen
I’m astonished that my period chose to arrive on a day when I was wearing white linen trousers.
And also, the night before I go on holiday. Like really??!

Had such a fun but busy time this week. I really enjoyed going to Glasgow for Chiara’s wonderful book talk in the middle of the week and meeting the Tumblr moots for the first time! And being struck with how all of us had voices and hearing everyone speak for the first time!
I spent the night at Jessica’s lovely flat with her cat Freya. It was absolutely roasting the next day. I had three gelatos, a lovely big vegan breakfast, a wander around Queen’s Park (and then a very sweaty, obscenely long bus journey home to this side of the country)
Then it was straight back into work. I’m off for two weeks after tomorrow as I’m going to Greece, so I’ve been trying to get everything wrapped up before I go. I had a long term project with a two month deadline and (of course) I ended up finishing it at the last minute. It involved monthly reporting and writing copy, and it was one of those long, tedious jobs that I’d kept putting behind more urgent tasks. Thankfully, it’s finished now!! Still to write a handover and finish whatever I couldn’t finish on Friday but after that we are off for almost two weeks! Yay!
I’m on my way to Glasgow! Taking the obscenely long bus instead of train (needlessly expensive) or driving (scary). I’ve already had a nap and we’re still in Fife!! Get me out.
Since a part of my job revolves around webpage building, I really get irked by terrible websites. Looking at the Boots one in particular. Why is it so bad?
Still not slept in the new bedsheets I got last week as I’ve been dealing with weird stains on the fitted sheet and now the duvet and I have no idea where they came from. There is a Vanish project on the go atm so we’ll see if it comes out. I have no idea. This is the downside of buying lighter coloured clothes and interiors. The weird stains!!! I just bought this!
I am exercising my free will and staying in the spare room for a change of scene. Admittedly I could have had this sorted days ago but I haven’t because I’m literally out all day during the week and most days at the weekend and the only time I get to do laundry is in the evening. Also I’m lazy.
Back when I was in school, I was only allowed to play The Sims 2 on the weekend because of ~ the distraction ~ and now even though I am now a grown up and can play whenever I want, I am so deeply conditioned to only being allowed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I was thinking about when I’d have time to play it over the next few days, because of course I couldn’t play it during the week. Girl what!! It is no longer 2004.
Nothing makes me get my arse in gear more than a sold out flight, especially when I realise at midnight! Why did I not just pay for it when I was looking on my lunch break?!
