Greetings!
Hello goths of Tumblr! This is History Painted Black, a public history project exploring goth history and the history of subcultures more generally. My plan is to create an archive of sorts on this blog in order to preserve historical paraphernalia relating to goth culture, particularly in America (so that's concert tees, posters, zines, photos of goth communities, and oral histories or stories of the community).
I'm a student of history, so I know how often things like this can go missing. My goal is to keep at least a partial archive of goth stuff to allow more people to see and learn about the history of goth and the rich vibrancy of the subculture.
If you have any material that you're willing to submit to the blog (anonymously or not!) please either submit it via an ask, a post submission, or by emailing me at [email protected]. If not, please spread the word and share the blog! I'm excited to see what else I can find.
Thank you!
