Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax).

This butterfly is a subspecies of the Limenitis arthemis, which also includes the White Admiral (Limenitis arthemis arthemis). The Red-spotted Purple is known for its striking iridescent blue and black wings, and it is often found in wooded areas where it can be seen puddling for moisture in mud. It is also known as a Batesian mimic of the Pipevine Swallowtail.
