This week more perspective and training my arm and shoulder to hold my pen with my shoulder, week 23.
Why am i posting my progress to tumblr?
I believe that by sharing my progress i will learn much more because i am reflecting and sharing my thoughts, which others can comment on. In sharing my progress i’m also keeping a visual diary of how i am progressing and in doing so i can see how i am improving over time. Likewise, i am hoping that what i am doing might inspire others to take on drawing. I really want more people to explore this amazing field and their own visual ideas by picking up a pencil and draw.
i’ve been learning about perspective throughout the past week while training myself to lock my wrist while drawing. It’s been a tough challenge but by forcing myself to use my shoulder to draw i’ve noticed that my arms feels like it’s getting a workout and that i am improving tiny bits everyday. I changed my seated position in my chair so that my arms don’t relax on-top of my armrests so that i would train my arms more. Another thing that i am noticing is how my drawing hand is most often ‘lifted above’ the keyboard as i type this text out, this is a significant insight as i have always rested my wrists beneath my keyboard because i got to tired to have my arms ‘floating’ above my keyboard for long periods of time. I’ve ditched my padded mouse pad too as that restricts me from using my arm to mouse around while working on my computer. When i drew the perspective drwaings above (the colored cubes) i noticied how my palm grip became much tighter around the pencil, and so this week i will train more on holding the pen lose while relaxing my shoulders and keeping my arm not touching the side of my chest. In doing so i feel as if i am training myself to work with my pencil for longer sessions while not becoming fatigued because i’ve adjsuted my grip to become looser and because i am drawing with my shoulder. One thing i noticed when i started drawing with my shoulders was how much my accuracy of drawing and writing decreased. I believe i’ve seen a small improvement as the week passed by to this and what i am doing instead of leaning my hand with my palm on the table is that i am hovering my arm above the table when writing too, my arm moves to the right and left while my fingers do the detailed work of getting the text-shapes out on paper WHILE my wrist is locked and i use my shoulder to move around.
Even da-vinci sucked in the beginning when he started to draw, that’s very comforting :)

New layout!
Postings at the end of week instead from now on! Time to focus :hungry:
Day 9, i'm ill be looking into some way to make it faster to edit images and so on for time lapse, idk if the time lapse is needed! Takes long time to convert and render so and I don't want to do admin stuff when I'm learning to draw so I might stop the time lapse and do selection of a day like this instead with images :)
day 8, more holding pen, more drawing circles, more perspective

more learning holding pen
An insight from today, how i hold my pen to make lines straighter and curves curvier. How do you do it?
You spin my head right round right round when you draw circles, when youuu draw circles. Full album here: http://holdpen.link/drawing-progress
