if you’ve been criticising the celebrations of the venezuelan people you’re 100% failing to grasp the suffering they have endured under maduro’s corrupt and dictatorial government.
still,
it is crucial to understand that the united states did not intervene out of concern for venezuelans, and trump’s actions once again show not only that international law only matters up to a point, but also that the only countries worth the struggle to “export democracy” (via bombs) are the ones which are conveniently very rich in oil.
moreover, it might be a difficult to accept, but it is possible to oppose the authoritarian regime of nicolás maduro while also condemning the american intervention in venezuela. and since this isn’t about picking a sports team to root for, nor we live in a superhero movie where the villain is obvious and the hero clearly acts for the common good, i think we really ought to try and think critically about this whole situation.
anyways, free venezuela. 🇻🇪
from maduro, and from us imperialism.
