Shane didn’t say anything at first, even though the worst part was already behind them, he kept his eyes on the road, knuckles white as he held onto the steering wheel. Then he felt Ilya’s hand on his, the warmth somehow soothing and the tension finally cracked. He let out a breath he felt like he’d been holding his whole life, with a shaky laugh slipping out before he could stop it.
He glanced over and saw the tear on Ilya’s cheek, and that did it. Shane slowed the car just a little, his thumb brushing gently over Ilya’s cheek. “Hey. I was terrified in there. Thought I was gonna screw it up somehow. But seeing you sitting there, it gave me courage. I think that’s what kept me upright.” He smiled at Ilya, seeing all the love they shared reflected in his eyes.
He turned his attention back to the road, and when he felt the kiss on his cheek, Shane tilted his head just enough to catch Ilya’s lips with the corner of his mouth in a brief kiss. He huffed at the comment about his mom. “And for the record, she liked you, that’s basically a miracle, Rozanov.”
When Ilya mentioned the two weeks, Shane finally relaxed into the seat. “I was thinking of both, showing you around, and also absolutely planning on not leaving that bed much, keeping you naked. Who needs clothes anyway?” He glanced over with a crooked smile. “You came all this way, It’d be a waste not to enjoy it.”
He squeezed Ilya’s hand gently. “Whatever we do, though, I want it to be with you. That’s the plan. That’s been the plan for a while.”
