Revelations || Catherine & Orion
curlsncynefin:
It was strange how calm Orion looked in the face of it. He had just felled some three-four vampires, but there was barely a crease on his forehead or a shake in his fingers. Yet, tension could be felt rolling off of the man if you looked closely. He needed to deal with Catherine first, check up and see if she was okay. He doubted she’d forgive him. For once his God just might, but probably not Catherine. He had lied to the woman, made her believe he was someone else, made he trust his other persona so much so that she kept the window to the fire-escape open only for him. Hands pushed deeper into the pockets of his jacket, fingers wrapped around the rosary, as he trudged down the path he was more than familiar with.
With a deep inhale he brace himself for what was to come. The few minutes when he heard no movement from the other side of the door, dread began to crawl up. Did she not make it home safe and sound? Did one of the fuckers catch her before he and his team took them down? Did something else hap—— The door opened, putting a halt to his spiralling thoughts. Discreetly, he let out a long exhale. “Catherine,” he greeted her, trying to smile but it didn’t come easy. Just a slight upturn of his lips, that was too strained to hold for more than a second. “Yes, I’m okay. Are you unharmed?” He asked, genuine concern shining in his blue hues as he took in her visage. She did see unscathed, physically. The psychological impact of what she had witnessed couldn’t be gauged this easily.
Catherine had to suck in a breath when she saw Orion standing there. He still looked the same to her, despite knowing that he had another life he had been hiding, and she imagined he wasn’t hiding it just from her. Yet, now she had to wonder why he still spent as much time around her if he had so much on his plate. She found herself taking a step back to let the tall, blue eyed man into her home.
She found herself hesitating on the question he had asked her. Not because she was harmed but more because so many other things were going through her head. She of course had come across many vampires in her life... she knew what she was getting from them. Hunters? Well she didn’t really know any personally save for stitching one up from time to time. Or at least, she thought she didn’t know any hunter. “I’m unharmed,” she confirmed, her voice in her signature gentle tone. Catherine looked up at him after a moment, “Please, whatever you say next... don’t lie to me,” she pleaded softly. There were many things she could cope with but someone lying, especially one she cared about, was not one of those things. “Why didn’t you tell me?” she found herself asking. Of course she knew hunters were nearly always sworn to secrecy but she had thought she and Orion were at a place where they felt they could tell each other nearly anything. Perhaps they weren’t... she shouldn’t fault just him for that. After all, she had never mentioned her deceased fiancé. She stood looking staring at him but without any judgement in her eyes, waiting on what he would say next.
