New YouTube Policy (#YoutubeIsOverParty)

The internet is going wild over YouTube’s new advertising policy, which revises what YouTube deems “innappropriate for advertising”.

Some of the things said to be innapropriate are things that very popular YouTubers such as Pewdiepie, Markiplier, Danisnotonfire, Shane Dawson, and Onision, use frequently for comedy purposes. Some examples of “innapropriate” content being sexual humour, violence or mentions of violent extremism, vulgor language (curses), and controversial topics.

This is, frankly, rediculous. A recent uproar on Twitter has people pointing out the faults in this new policy, @/RyanAbe says: “Due to the recent changes in YouTube’s policy I will now be joining kidz bop. This is a great opportunity for me!!!”

He’s obviously right, this new policy will be putting many very popular YouTubers out of jobs. Their jobs are comedy, and are not made for a younger audience. And what about YouTubers who make their living talking about opinions? Or serious topics? YouTube used to be a multicultural haven for thousands of different perspectives and opinions, censoring opionions on a website full of opinions is pretty stupid. 

All in all, I honestly don’t think YouTube will keep this policy, especially because of all the drama it’s caused, but if it does, good luck to all.
