If you’re building a new kitchen or remodeling an old one. Don't let your contractor or designer talk you out of soapstone or marble. If you simply desire it, then it doesn't matter if they do. Do what you love and I promise you won't regret it!

Love this soapstone slab firebox!
Looks like its straight from an original French cottage.

Our ALL-TIME favorite stones to combine is soapstone and white marble!
Lovely soapstone kitchen combined with a darling old fashioned white stove.
Anyone else afraid to leave an electric heater on?
So I mentioned to my mother the other night that since it’s been cold lately I’ve been tempted to leave the electric heater on but it gives me anxiety because I’m afraid it’s going to explode or catch on fire while I sleep. (irrational? maybe)
Anyway, she mentioned she had a soapstone that her mother used for her when she was a child. Traditionally it’s heated infront of the fireplace (I’ll be using stove top for approx 15-20 minutes) and then wrapped in a blanket and placed in different spots on your bed and then at the end of your bed.
This thing is amazing! It kept my bed and toes warm all night, and not in the uncomfortable I’m being blasted with hot air way, ANNNDDD my irrational fears of explosion are gone! (although I am worried about melting my bedding, which I’ve been assured is ALSO irrational at the temperature I’m heating it too)
Want one? this is the first place that comes up when you google it, and it gives you the instructions http://vermontsoapstone.com/acquiring_bedwarmer.asp
Love this!
