INGREDIENTS: Water, Ispopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Mineral oil, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Niacinamide, Glycerine, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Perfume, Petrolatum, Carbomer, Cetyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Aluminum hydroxide, Yogurt Powder, Hydroxystearic Acid, BHT, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Triethoxysilylethyl Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Palmitic Acid, Arachidic Acid, CI77491
Isopropyl Myristate
is used in cosmetic and topical medicinal preparations where good absorption through the skin is desired. It is also used as a pesticide-free treatment against head lice which works by dissolving the wax that covers the exoskeleton of head lice, killing them by dehydration.
Stearic Acid
also called Octadecanoic Acid, one of the most common long-chain fatty acids, found in combined form in natural animal and vegetable fats. Commercial “stearic acid” is a mixture of approximately equal amounts of stearic and palmitic acids and small amounts of oleic acid. It is employed in the manufacture of candles, cosmetics, shaving soaps, lubricants, and pharmaceuticals.
Glyceryl Stearate
is the natural glyceryl ester from stearic acid (glycerin and stearic acid) which offers skin conditioning, moisturization and hydration due to the glycerin component. Functions as a non-ionic opacifier, thickener, and formulation stabilizer, where it also imparts a softer, smoother, feel to your emulsions.
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate
is a clear liquid that is insoluble in water. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate is used in the formulation of a wide variety of product types including sunscreens and makeup products that contain ingredients to protect the skin from the sun. In the United States, these products are regulated as Over-the-Counter (OTC) drugs.
Niacinamide
Nicotinamide also known as niacinamide and nicotinic amide, is the amide of nicotinic acid (vitamin B3 / niacin). Nicotinamide is a water-soluble vitamin and is part of the vitamin B group.
Glycerine
Glycerol (or glycerine, glycerin) is a simple polyol (sugar alcohol) compound. It is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid that is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations. Glycerol has three hydroxyl groups that are responsible for its solubility in water and its hygroscopic nature. The glycerol backbone is central to all lipids known as triglycerides. Glycerol is sweet-tasting and generally considered non-toxic.
Triethanolamine
is used primarily as an emulsifier and surfactant. It is a common ingredient in formulations used for both industrial and consumer products. The triethanolamine neutralizes fatty acids, adjusts and buffers the pH, and solubilises oils and other ingredients that are not completely soluble in water. Some common products in which triethanolamine is found are liquid laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, general cleaners, hand cleaners, polishes, metalworking fluids, paints, shaving cream and printing inks.
Phenoxyethanol
is chemical preservative, a glycol ether often used in dermatological products such as skin creams and sunscreen. It is a colorless oily liquid. It is a bactericide (usually used in conjunction with quaternary ammonium compounds), often used in place of sodium azide in biological buffers because phenoxyethanol is less toxic and non-reactive with copper and lead. It is used in many applications such as cosmetics, vaccines and pharmaceuticals as a preservative.
Titanium Dioxide
It is widely used to provide whiteness and opacity to products such as paints, plastics, papers, inks, foods, and toothpastes. It is also used in cosmetic and skin care products, and it is present in almost every sunblock, where it helps protect the skin from ultraviolet light.
Dimethicone
is one of several types of silicone oil (polymerized siloxane). Its applications range from contact lenses and medical devices to elastomers; it is also present in shampoos (as dimethicone makes hair shiny and slippery), food (antifoaming agent), caulking, lubricating oils, and heat-resistant tiles.
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane
is an oil soluble ingredient used in sunscreen products to absorb the full spectrum of UVA rays. It is a dibenzoylmethane derivative. Avobenzone exists in the ground state as a mixture of the enol and keto forms, favoring the chelated enol. Its ability to absorb ultraviolet light over a wider range of wavelengths than many organic sunscreen agents has led to its use in many commercial preparations marketed as "broad spectrum" sunscreens. Avobenzone has an absorption maximum of 357 nm.
Petrolatum
is mineral oil jelly (i.e. petroleum jelly). It is used as a barrier to lock moisture in the skin in a variety of moisturizers and also in hair care products to make your hair shine.
Carbomer
is a term used for a series of polymers primarily made from acrylic acid. The Carbomers are white, fluffy powders but are frequently used as gels in cosmetics and personal care products. Carbomers can be found in a wide variety of product types including skin, hair, nail, and makeup products, as well as dentifrices.
Cetyl Alcohol
is a long chain organic alcohol; according to the PETA's Caring Consumer guide, this ingredient can be of either animal or plant origin.Function(s): Emulsion Stabilizer; Fragrance Ingredient; Opacifying Agent; Surfactant - Emulsifying Agent;Surfactant - Foam Booster; Viscosity Increasing Agent - Aqueous; Viscosity Increasing Agent -Nonaqueous; EMOLLIENT; EMULSION STABILISING; FOAM BOOSTING; MASKING; VISCOSITY CONTROLLING
Methylparaben
is in the paraben family of preservatives used by the food, pharmaceutical, and personal care product industries. Parabens mimic estrogen and can act as potential hormone (endocrine) system disruptors.
Propylparaben
is an ester of phydroxybenzoic acid. It is a white, fine crystalline powder, which is odourless, tasteless and non-irritating.
Disodium EDTA
Disodium EDTA and the related ingredients bind to metal ions which inactivates them. The binding of metal ions helps prevent the deterioration of cosmetics and personal care products. It also helps to maintain clarity, protect fragrance compounds, and prevent rancidity.
Aluminum hydroxide
is a stable form of aluminum. It is found in nature as the mineral gibbsite. In cosmetics and personal care products, it is used in many types of cosmetics and personal care products including makeup and eye makeup products, lipstick, cleansing products, lotions, moisturizers, hair conditioners, other skin care products and suntan products.
Hydroxystearic Acid
is a fatty acid. In cosmetics and personal care products, Hydroxystearic Acid is used in skin care preparations. It cleans skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away.
BHT
Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) is a toluene-based ingredient used as a preservative in food and personal care products. Functions: Antioxidant; Fragrance Ingredient; MASKING
Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate
This ingredient is a synthetic compound based on stearic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid. Functions: Surface Modifier; EMOLLIENT; EMULSIFYING
Triethoxysilylethyl Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone
A silicone polymer that has multiple functions in cosmetic products, including skin-conditioning agent and occlusive. The occuslive nature of this ingredient makes it great for preventing moisture loss without making skin feel coated or greasy.
Palmitic Acid
is the most common fatty acid (saturated) found in animals, plants and microorganisms. As its name indicates, it is a major component of the oil from palm trees (palm oil, palm kernel, and palm kernel oil), but can also be found in meats, cheeses, butter, and dairy products. Palmitic acid is a very good emollient just as many other naturally-occuring fatty acids are. It helps reinforce skin's healthy barrier function for a smoother surface.
Arachidic Acid
is a saturated fatty acid found naturally in fish and vegetable oils (such as those from peanuts). It can also be formed by the hydrogenation of arachidonic acid. Diets rich in saturated fatty acids, such as arachidic acid, are known to increase serum low-density lipoproteins resulting in high blood cholesterol levels.1 Because of its surfactant-like properties, arachidic acid is used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, soaps, cosmetics, and food packaging.
CI77491
This is an iron-based inorganic colorant, composed primarily of ferric oxide. Functions: Colorant; COSMETIC COLORANT
SCENT
It has a similar smell to a perfume in the market(Cool water, if i am not mistaken)and has a powdery after smell. It's not that strong for me but not too mild either, the smell doesn't really bother me at all since i'm not too picky when it comes to lotion scents(in fact I really liked the smell). It doesn't stay long on the skin though ladies specially when you're outdoors and sweat a lot.
TEXTURE
Vaseline instant fair lotion's texture compared to a Lotion that I have been using with a more creamy texture.
Vaseline instant fair lotion watery texture
Creamy texture of a lotion that i have been using
Pink-ish color with more watery texture than other lotions that I know. When you put some on your palm it will run down like melting butter, unlike others that are more creamy. One thing I like about it is that it's not greasy or oily on the skin(with just enough amount of it), it dries up real quick.
After wiping it off
Just a heads up though, since it has a pink color, once you wipe the lotion off your skin it'll leave a brown-ish shade on the cloth or tissue that you use, but don't worry it's easy to wash with water .
EFFECTIVENESS
before and after pictures. UPPER the usual amount i put lotion on. LOWER more than usual amount that gave me a lighter skin.
I am not the type of person that puts a huge amount of lotion on, because I really hate the greasy feeling that most lotions give us. Because of that, the first time I applied Vaseline instant fair lotion on my skin I did't see any changes or lightening effect(I guess it takes a lot to get my dark skin whiter hehe). So I tried again but this time a little more than usual amount and it somewhat gave me a lighter look but it's just like a starchy effect, it's more of a body foundation that doesn't suit my skin color(it is not that noticeable in the pictures but that is what I have noticed). The label said results vary based on individual skin types, my skin isn't too dry nor oily but my complexion is a " morena " type. I don't know if it was made to work best for skins that are fair already or not as dark as my skin. Because as a blogger I do read and search for other's opinion about a product. And from what I have noticed, most of the people that said it worked for them has a lighter complexion than mine. Bottom line, I didn't see any changes on my skin the first time I used it till now. But on the other hand, it did a great job on moisturizing my skin. So if you were looking for a moisturizer I can assure you that this works really great. And I'll still make an update on this product after weeks of use to compare if there are any changes with long term use.
